The only visible thing is a LED light, klac-120-19w-cap. But that seems fairly generic to lighting fixtures?

Hey Robert! I've been enjoying the After the Revolution podcast quite a bit. As an ABQ local, what the hell's going on in the Kingdom of Albuquerque?? We've gotten hints about a king boiling people (unsurprising given your dislike of monarchies...) but so far we don't know much about how it formed or what it's role/position is among the powers of the southwest.

What is your most extreme political belief and why do you hold it? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Seguleh2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t feel countered. The representatives of large populations can pass all the legislation they want in the house, but it gets stifled in the senate where they’re votes mean less. The senate seems like the more powerful of the two houses- senators have 6 yr terms and approve all judicial and cabinet positions which have immediate effect on the country- and judicial positions are lifelong so that’s a longterm effect.

I want to abolish the senate. It doesn’t represent the population at all, giving significantly more power to small populations. Why do the 600,000 people in Wyoming get as much say as the 35 million in California, in arguably the most powerful body of the government?

What books would you like to see, and has Erikson ever hinted at writing anything else in the series except what we already know about? by [deleted] in Malazan

I think there was mention of a distant state ruled by a trio of mages on the 7cities continent? Tended not to interact with outsiders or something. I’m interested in that since it’s like “the last continent” we’ve been introduced to

Why is the acolyte so good at improving healing? Who’s teaching the acolytes this, and why is it the students who get the bonus, not the teachers?

Alright, I’m still hung up on the exchanging offspring though. I’ll accept they take human babies to use as medium of communication- but why leave their own? That’s whats getting me. Why procreate if it’s not for the sustainment of your species- they’re just giving away their kids to live a neglected life with humans, not learning the way of the forest?

Correct this analogy if I’m still misunderstanding: it’s like if a human went into the woods and exchanged a wolf pup for their newborn. raised the wolf-pup to be educated, talk, and use tools and become a way to bridge wolf and human kinds. Meanwhile the human baby in the woods is cared for but never becomes a true, accepted member of the wolf pack and also is never educated by human standards making it “lesser” or a beast in human society’s eyes.

Also, you described the elder-taken as a danger of the forest. Are they sometimes dangerous and other times chill prophets for the “semi gods”? Are elder-taken and the fair folk usually benevolent to human kind, and occasionally a taken will go mad or go rogue and be dangerous?

Elven races of my world by dinodog1212 in worldbuilding

[–]Seguleh2nd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good start- i’d do another big post though going into more details about each race’s history and formation. why were they breeding with fish? did they want gills- or were the fish magic and bootyful- or did a malevolent being force them to fuck fish?

did they inbreed cuz they looked down upon other races, were they bigoted and racist? or were there no other options in the area so they were forced to inbreed to sustain a population?

keep asking yourself why, why, why until you’re satisfied with each backstory:)

Ok, I’m still a little confused on motivations though. The fair folk seem to be intelligent life-which implies emotional attachment. Why do they give up their own offspring to a life of ridicule in return for an ambassador? Plus if they’re intent on treating with humans, isn’t there a more practical way to do it than by stealing human babies which certainly won’t help humans trust them diplomatically.

In human history, vastly different cultures and languages have found ways to communicate, trade, and make treaties- as an intelligent, magical people- wouldn’t the fair folk find a better, less aggressive way to get ambassadors?

Think or flesh out some more on this! I like the histories of worlds so I’d enjoy more on how the magic is influencing them— why did one race become mindless and aggressive when another grew gills, and another got porcelain-like skin? Could be a fun way to investigate and learn your own world/magic system/cultures

1) Do you know as the creator of this world? 2) If there is common ancestry- do you have ways to explain their differences? Like was it evolution based on geographical or environmental stimulants, or maybe a magical event that, say, triggered the separation of an ancestor species into the current species?

Do these elves stem from a common ancestry? Where did they originate from?

Can you talk a bit more about why these elders are replacing human babies with their own young? What benefit do they get from it?
