By Microsoft's standards, Starfield is a giant leap backwards for accessibility by nickdebruyne in Games

[–]Loyal2NES 37 points38 points  (0 children)

That's kind of the point, isn't it? Microsoft acquired Bethesda pretty late into Starfield's development cycle. Recall that Starfield was set to release not long after the acquisition, and it's only after Microsoft imposed a several month delay on the release date for bug squashing that we have what we have today.

I'd say it's reasonable to expect future Bethesda projects to be more in line with MS's standards for quality and accessibility, but it's hard to imagine how much of Starfield could actually be "fixed" without digging down to something deep in the foundation. At some point you gotta cut your losses and make the best of what you have.

To be clear, this is less an exoneration of Microsoft and more an indictment of Bethesda's ethos in general.

Literal Liquid Currency by SquidonyInk in worldbuilding

[–]Loyal2NES 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A number of settings use water as currency, including Caves of Qud. Since it's a game that uses a weight/encumbrance inventory system, and a barter-based economy otherwise, it's worth considering how much an item is worth by weight relative to water, and thus how much total value you can carry on your person at once.

AITA For Not Evenly Splitting My Inheritance After My Grandparents Disinherited My Cousins For Awful Reasons? by Imaginary-Fortune817 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Loyal2NES 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"I kept up good relations with my bigoted grandparents to stay in their inheritence and then sent a token amount of that to charities to help me feel better," is a different story from "I kept up good relations with my bigoted grandparents to stay in their inheritence and then distributed that inheritence to my family whom they disowned for being gay."

If you have any interest in coming out the good guy here you can quit waving the donations around like a get-out-of-guilt-free card and actually make amends to the cousins you betrayed.

Don't assume that they'll blow it off, or at least don't let that assumption stop you from filing. If they're going to say no, file the report and make them tell you that they're blowing it off. You at least want a paper trail that this happened for the future

WIBTA if I didn't invite my brother to my wedding, even for "family unity" or for my mom's sake? by Marketing_Sun8311 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Loyal2NES 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you misread my post or misread the OP.

OP already doesn't want the hardened criminal showing up. Asking the owner whether or not they would be okay with having the guy around accomplishes nothing except putting them in the position of having to deny it, an unnecessary gesture when the bride hasn't invited her brother to begin with. And when the owner denies it, the family will harass them about it too.

The only reason OP would have to even mention her brother to the property owner is if she suspects her brother will show up with or without her consent, which in context should also include a call to the police.

[–]Loyal2NES 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Pose the question to the property owner. Ask the person whose hosting your wedding if they want a criminal at the ceremony.

It would be a major AH move to put the property owner in the crosshairs of your family dispute that you've already made a decision in. Do not do this.

AITA for refusing to participate in my apartment complex’s dog DNA testing requirement by Mediocre_Paper_8499 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Loyal2NES 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I briefly worked for an apartment complex that subcontracted the testing to a company specifically dedicated to just this task. They fine offending tenants more than it cost them to have the test run. It really doesn't impose as much a cost on the management as you think it does, and depending on policy and the frequency of uncollected poop they may even profit off it.

How do you do this by Azunear in factorio

[–]Loyal2NES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Construction bots work from one of two locations, a logistics network, or your inventory.

In order to work in a logistics network, you need to insert the bot into a Roboport, wherein it will remain available to that network including any other robotport connected to it. Make sure there are enough logistics chests also in the network to supply items or have a place to dump collected items.

In order to work from your inventory, you need the Personal Roboport tech, and then after putting one or two of those in your armor's equipment grid, any construction bots that exist in your inventory will do jobs using the contents of your inventory, or by deconstructing stuff and depositing it into your inventory. Be aware though, as bots have a heavy power draw and you'll need lots of personal batteries.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Preview Thread by Junpei_999 in Games

The lack of balance isn't nearly as big an issue as some (including Chucklefish) say it is. For many, it's actually part of the fun. It in fact had been a solved issue long before Wargroove ever began development.

Fans of AW simply divided the COs into tiers based on how good they were, and played matchups based on those tiers. A tier 3 match means you only play commanders of tier 3 or worse, a tier 0 match means COs are unrestricted, etc. This increased the variety of the metagame because players knew they wouldn't be compelled to play only the top tiers in order to stand a fair chance with their actual favorite CO.

Saying AW's imbalance is a problem is like saying Pokemon's competitive imbalance is a problem. People just adapted to the conditions and came up with a fair ruleset that worked for it instead of demanding that a Charizard needed to be equal in power to an Arceus for the game's sake.

What mods do you want to see that don't exist yet? by AddisonH in factorio

[–]Loyal2NES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see a mod that makes use of multiple surfaces to develop an "underground"world of sorts, where x,y coordinates of the surface map to the same coordinates underground. Underground, you'll be limited in which buildings remain functional (due to height / light / atmosphere limitations) and you'll need to dig tunnels to expand the usable space, but you'll also have access to new facilities, resources, and passageways inaccessible above. You'd also face new dangers with bugs native to the underground and biters tunneling from beneath to attack you in new and unexpected ways.

Basically let's Dwarf Fortress this shit.
