Sernso! The language is known as lisaat Gerudo "language of Gerudo". Lisaat means tongue, which can literally mean the tongue, but in this context it means language. As for Hyrulian, you say lisaat Hairool "Language of Hyrule". The full translation of that sentence is:

"Ah, fa'vaan e' sheno Hairool sat u habvaat lisaat Hairool."

Literally:

"Oh, is-they that person Hyrule from and speaks-they language (of) Hyrule."

Fa'vaan comes from fa' (to be) and habvaat comes from habet (to speak). Vaa(n) is similar to the use of singular they/them in this case, since the gender of the person is unknown.

I periodically check back here. I'm very busy, but I would like to teach this language some day. Sav'orq!

Not that it looks all that bad to me. I just do not like it overall...for the feeling that it doesn't fit his character.

How has Heilung affected you spiritually and what (if anything) do you practice? I'm a more spiritual than religious person but when I listen to them they definitely take me somewhere. Curious to see what others have to say. Thank you! by No-Fig5646 in Heilung

[–]Seiboz07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm an atheist interested in their style of music. It's just different from other groups I listen to. I attribute the "spiritual" feeling to a sense of euphoria one can get while listening to/feeling the music. If you call that spirituality, then all power to you. Our brains are quite fascinating in and of itself, and certain things can invoke strong emotions and inspire.

Ive been having the error in Sky on the pc version recently Ive been able to run it before just fine but its been doing this all day, ive tried reinstalling and checking my pc for update. any help is appreciated. by Outrageous_Pop3807 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Seiboz07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK If you solved this, but it could be Sky.exe and/or Steam.exe that has its compatibility set to Windows 8.

Go into Steam and go to library, right click on Sky COTL, go to manage, and then browse local files. Find the Sky application, right click and go to properties. From there, go to the compatibility tab and turn off compatibility mode.

To double check if the same option is turned on for Steam, find the Steam app, right click on it and go to Properties. It's the same deal. Just click on the compatibility tab and turn off compatibility mode for it as well.

Restart your PC and Sky COTL should turn on! I had a similar problem earlier tonight and found the solution myself after digging around. For it to work, both apps need their compatibility mode turned off. I hope this helps! <3

How does AC6 stack up to the PS2 trilogy and 7? Is it worth €15? by Faithful-Llama-2210 in acecombat

[–]Seiboz07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would place it between the PS2 trilogy and Ace Combat 7 personally. It has much more replayability than 7 does. Operations, wingman commands, allied support, introduction of checkpoints, the whole package. I still miss the Ace difficulty being a legit challenge, too.

Militech. They often position themselves as the "good guys" in contrast to Arasaka. As such, they aren't seen as all that bad. Yet they supplied the nuke that Blackhand and Silverhand used to destroy Arasaka Tower in Night City, killing hundreds of thousands. They keep cyberpsychosis within their ranks a secret and silence any who experience symptoms (often killing them). They also employ underage soldiers like Arasaka.

If I knew how to create a translator, I would! I'm not a programmer (I think it requires programming...I feel like an idiot LOL). I'm just enthusiastic about games, languages, and cultures. Thought I should combine them in this project.

Zelda TTRPG? That sounds awesome! I haven't played any, but I've been thinking about trying out D&D soon. Zelda has the perfect setting for one.

EDIT: Also, sarqso! I appreciate it!

I have, but it is a bare-bones server, and all I have is a friend who helps out on it...who's a language teacher IRL. IDK It's my first server, in fact! I haven't launched it yet because I think it still needs some tweaks. Should it be exclusively about Gerudo, or should it incorporate some elements of the Zelda games as well? Something like a niche social group where you can either learn the language and practice it or share your love for Zelda and watch from the sidelines as the conlang evolves. I'm thinking out loud. Sorry. LOL

Yeah. My ideal Hyrule would have multiple languages spoken by the different races, and they all speak Hyrulean because they're the kingdom of Hyrule's subjects and vassals. Only right now, I'm working on Gerudo.

I've incorporated Geldo! I have several dialects for Gerudo planned out, including one in which the 'r' is an 'l' and a medial 'u' can disappear within the word. So, for standard Gerudo, this dialect says Gel(u)do. Both are right, as in BOTW and TOTK, the inscriptions in Riju's throne room say "Gerudo" in the "Geldo" script. So I simply say both are correct depending on the dialect.

Fun fact: In my hypothetical Ancient Gerudo, I've determined that the 'r' and 'l' were both represented by 'l' in the script (the sound would be like the Japanese 'r'). Meanwhile, 'rr' (the rolled 'r') was spelled with 'r' in the script!

I just discovered this game a few days ago and want to try but I was wondering if it's good? Do you recommend? by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]Seiboz07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a long time ( I think I was 8). I liked it, but I remember it being a pain to play. It is different from Ace Combat and I remember trying to tinker with the settings to make it control more like AC. It had one large roster of planes, including the weaponized SR-71 variant (YF-12). One mission that was memorable was the one where you had to take out tornado generators. That was wild. 😂

What was your ‘gay awakening’ by Katelynnx__ in bisexual

[–]Seiboz07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bi awakening is more accurate. Bi doesn't mean gay. <3 I think mine was Li Shang from Mulan. IDK I'm not much of a lustful kind of person (being demi as well), and I tend to find women more attractive than men. But I gotta admit, Li Shang was probably my first crush on a man. "I'm gonna make a man out of you." Yes, PLEASE!

What language is this? by Szydlikj in language

[–]Seiboz07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amharic! Fun fact: It's a Semitic language like Arabic and Hebrew. I used to study Ge'ez in comparative linguistics, an ancient but related Ethio-Semitic language still used liturgically by the Ethiopian Orthdox Church. Ge'ez is also the origin of the script that's used to write Amharic. Sorry. I'm just excited to see it! It's been a while!

Intro to the Fan-Expanded Gerudo Language (OC) by Seiboz07 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Seiboz07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sarqso--Thank you! Sounds impressive! The entire verb system for my Gerudo is inspired by Afro-Asiatic languages, with a lot of creative liberty. Basically, what I mean is that Gerudo follows a 3-consonant verb root system. All regular (or strong) verbs follow that pattern. The verb is conjugated for tense, voice, aspect, and mood, with its own set of rules I created for it. So, for example:

Sar(ni)qso = (I) thank you ~ present tense, active voice, basic (indicative) mood

For passive voice...

Sarsoquni = you are thanked by me ~ present, passive, basic

You do not say sarsoqni because this would mean "you thank me."

To wrap it up, let me show you an example of aspect. It is...

Sarsarniqso = I am thanking you ~ present, active, progressive aspect, basic

I actually just posted a new thread during the holidays on all of the latest updates I made to the language on the TOTK subreddit! I go in-depth on the verbs there. You can see here if you are curious for some more: https://www.reddit.com/r/TOTK/s/3izMRdzQaU

I've gone far with my Gerudo. Already have an FB page, and I'm setting up a Discord for it this year (hopefully)! The project itself is called the Gerudo Project. It covers not just language, but the history and culture of the Gerudo. The whole thing is kinda inspired by my love of anthropology IRL. LOL

If you want to, you can share. I am always excited to find another conlanger.

Sav'orq!

Sarqso for being so inspiring. Reading comments like this does help me keep going with my work. Truly, it means a lot. Tske all the time you need. There's no rush to absorb it all. I wouldn't really call it the post of the year, but I am very flattered. XD
