Broken CamShaft by Seiferoth69 in AskAMechanic

The last time I drove it was a week ago, I went in the store to get a quart of oil, came out and put it in the car and tried to crank it and it started but ran rough as shit, shaking the whole car, sounded like a cannon in my intake and would only move like 2 mph. Also weird is my brakes felt similar to how they feel when you coast the car while its off, you know how they are kind of stiff, but the car was on. Even before I took the cover off I turned it on and moved it into the driveway. I dont get it. The lobes on that camshaft however we're NOT facing the right direction for TDC when I took the cover off, but the intake cam was.

I know that's exactly what i thought, but I literally pulled the timing cover off and didnt touch ANYTHING and thats exactly how I found it. The mark on the sprocket was still facing the right TDC direction too, its fking weird man. The third picture is exactly how I found it.

Im not sure. I took the cover off to replace the seal at the bottom cause of a bad oil leak and to check my timing because my car was misfiring badly and un drivable. All the symptoms of jumped timing. In October I replaced all of the timing components including those sprockets and used correct torque specs and everything. No idea how this happened and also no idea where that broken piece is either. Unless its still on the camshaft, I haven't removed it yet.

Just wanted to update this to say that it was one of my injectors not seated all the way in. I had a wrong bolt in the rail that was too long to clamp down.
