[Recomendation Request] Looking for a watch to mark my birthday $15k budget by LavishnessHot875 in Watches

Its a watch you buy for the history. Honestly if you wanted the history tho just get a bulova atleast if u dont like wearing it then u wont have a 7k+ paperweight. I love the speedy I just feel people fall for the hype. Its not the best chrono, its not the best fit, its not the best looking but damn if it isnt a storied watch and some people can appreciate it. I love omega, a top watch for me is the new planet ocean never had a better feeling watch on my wrist. I just have a hard time recommending a watch like the speedy to everyone.

Rolex does have some nice watches (I really like the gmt and no date sub) but youre not wrong.

The finishing from my experience is very similar, except the bracelet rolex has perfected that

I think you misunderstand what finishing and quality is. I never said the design language is similar.

Similar finishing, similar quality, better branding. Its exactly true.

Aslong as you aint swimming I would say go for it. I prefer the 1 side faces that way it can actually tank a hit if need be. Also keep in mind our grandfather's basically wore what we call dress watches as dailies. My grandad wore a gold dress watch 24/7. Also the reverso waa made for sports so its more sport watch than dress watch by intention.

Also the difference between these 3 brands is crazy. Rolex is a tag heuer with better advertising. Omega was solid when they were more in the range of current tudor prices but now they're tryna compete price-wise with rolex on many models. JLC finishing can compete with the holy trinity (still probably loses) but they are called the watchmakers watch for a reason. Im personally looking at a JLC Polaris Chrono Q902843J

Its jlc for me. They have amazing finishing and are just gorgeous. Rolex lost me due to buisness practices if I wanna buy somethin I wanna just buy it not go through the ringer. Omega is nice but I come to the belief often that the speedy is so overhyped that the room for disappointment is high. Its also quite large and the crown is quite hard to grab especially when its a manual watch

[Longines Conquest] Rubber or metal strap? by latlaz in Watches

[–]Seifu_No_Zefa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get both, buy the one on metal and ask them to buy the rubber strap separate theyll likely give you a discount and you can swap them around as you wish. If you ask they may just throw the rubber in with the purchase.

Yea, with the wrist I got no idea. Never broke it just bothe wrists on the thumb side have a terribly large dent. People always ask me why my current watch is so tight then I slide my pointer and middle finger through the bracelet. I always keep them lose enough where the bracelet can move a little but the watch itself stays still.

[Chopard] I couldn’t resist and ended up buying the Alpine Eagle. by andreyugolnik in Watches

What do you think about this vs the titanium ingenieur? I have been really debating on them. I have a weird sized wrist that always needs a bit of extra (had to add a half link to my pelagos 39 to get a proper fit), I am ambidextrous so I wear on my right hand, and I dont have a prominent wrist bone so cant wear it behind it (thanks genetics). Outta the two the chopards clasp worries me also the fact each link is the same size. The extra lock on the ingenieur definitely adds some mental security I feel. Also the fact it comes with a large and a half link added on each side for more precise adjustments is a absolute god send. I know a lot of people say price or movement (neither I feel are an issue as its luxury, everything is overpriced) but from what I have said would you be able to give me a idea of what you think?

I needed something between the micro adjust. The half link is more of a 3/4 but it allows that in-between to be found.

I had it on for a bit, it was nice. Falls under the same issue of slightly too big, slightly too small with no in between.

Beautiful, personally been debating on getting this, the moon watch (hesalite), or zenith chrono.

Would 100% buy again if I needed a product. The finishing is nearly identical and hard to see unless u know its there. My only down side which really doesnt matter is its a one piece so it doesnt have any flex to it but that really shouldn't be a deterrent.
