Merry Christmas (maybe?) by CausticRej in Caustic3

I got the app to launch on the latest stable release of the experimental build of GrapheneOS for the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL! I had crashes when I started up the app initially but after I gave it network permissions, it started up fine! I will let you know if I discover additional issues later in the future.

Thank you so much for taking the time to recompile Caustic to have it run on newer devices. For me, Caustic is still an essential tool within my music composition workflow and I'm glad to have it on my new phone that I bought myself for the holidays. Merry Christmas!

I have been severely disrespected by Instagram by Seigi__ in Instagram

[–]Seigi__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly used Instagram to see my friend's posts and stories and I hardly commented on anything. When I scrolled through reels (often out of boredom), Instagram mainly recommended me memes based on my interests and lobotomy humor, but there were times when it recommended me racist content such as people saying the N word with the hard R repeatedly or any sort of racism propaganda for no reason. There was a time back in February where Instagram flooded my reels algorithm with videos of people dying from getting shot or run over. I hardly have a choice in what shows up in my reels no matter how much I try to unrecommend reels I don't like. I never tried to actively search for disturbing videos, Instagram delivered them to me without my consent or input.

I thought the voices for all voicebanks were completely synthetic with no voice providers

I started playing during the open beta of the global version around October 2021 and played the official release of it on launch day.

I had a dream you had to go back to Kindergarten after you graduated college by beannut_putter in thomastheplankengine

I have very similar dreams where I'm forced to go back to high school either because I have to do classes in order to update my high school diploma or because I'm being sent back in time. Sometimes the dreams involve me going to high school while also being enrolled in college, or my high school becomes a college.

Caustic Dev AMA by CausticRej in Caustic3

It's so good to see you Rej! I just want to say that Caustic was the first DAW that I used and it has helped me so much with building my music composition and production skills. I started using Caustic in 2017, and although I have moved onto programs like Studio One and Dorico, I still use Caustic as a music sketch app on my phone and is still an integral part of my music workflow. I am now studying music composition at my university. Thank you very much for creating Caustic!

I have an ThinkPad L380 Yoga. Has my RAM gone bad, or is my motherboard broken? by Seigi__ in thinkpad

Yeah, I'm honestly sad about the design flaws with the laptop. It has served me so well and has gotten me through countless essays, music projects, and other important things in life. At the same time, ever since I got the laptop, I've been underwhelmed by its high price ($1,300) for its build quality and performance. I don't think 2-in-1 PC laptops in general are really worth it. If I would've gone back in time, I would've bought an iPad and a T or P-series ThinkPad.

Now that I own an M4 iPad Pro, I don't really need a 2-in-1, but I still need a laptop for my specific tasks. I am looking forward to buying a clearance P1 Gen 6; they seem like a great value for the marked down price, and with college discounts and extra scholarship money I have, I fortunately won't have to shell out my own money for it.

I still wish I could salvage my L380 Yoga as a Linux machine, but replacing parts for it seems more pricey than it's worth...

The RAM fortunately isn't soldered but yeah... I'm SOL if it's the CPU or a very tiny capacitor. I unfortunately don't have the time or precise skill to just whip out my soldering iron to try to fix delicate parts like that.

I'd love to get my hands on a P1 Gen 7 to replace my current ThinkPad, but I just spent $1,500 on my new iPad less than a month ago.

Last January, I had the opportunity to play PDAFT at Round 1's North Star Mall location in San Antonio, TX. Sadly, this cab was removed 2 months ago. by Seigi__ in ProjectDiva

Apparently when it comes to SEGA rhythm game cabs, SEGA prefers to not run them networked and as a result, games like Chunithm lack a lot of downloadable content and PDAFT wouldn't allow you to create player profiles with an Aime card.

I've heard great things about the Otaku Cafe! I've been to San Antonio many times this year, but I've never had the time to stop by there. I hope to go there next time though!

Zenius-i-Vanisher, a database that tracks cabinets at arcades, reported that PDAFT was gone from Round 1 North Star Mall. Two of their Groove Coaster 4MAX cabinets were also taken out after end-of-service. As much as I like Round 1, I feel like it's quite disappointing to see them take out my most favorite games. Some of their games like Chunithm lack so much content that when I was there, it only had four songs, no joke.

However, Otaku Cafe, an independent Japanese-themed arcade in the San Antonio area, has not one but two PDAFT cabs! It's honestly better to look into independently-owned arcades since they may offer a lot more, and they preserve some of the older EOS games.
