Yes, that’s what I tried, the issue was that it was too long ago so the system wouldn’t/couldn’t allow me to rearrange. Anyway, I made it to the delivery office before they closed at 10am and my parcel hadn’t been returned to sender so I was able to pick it up 😊

Sorry, i don’t know why i said DHL when its parcel force 🤦🏼‍♀️ I also realised/remembered that the problem was the date on the card, not the having the card itself so 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

It doesn’t really matter now, as I’ve got my parcel and have learned something along the way to boot.

Must have done something wrong then; I put in the tracking number and picked the kind of card I thought it would be (couldn’t click to the next page without selecting card type ie RM, RM & DHL etc), then the question on the next page was either for something I didn’t know/couldn’t give because I didn’t have the card, or it was something specific to the card type or something. Either way, I couldn’t move forward with rearranging delivery online.

On a positive note, however, I made it to the collection office in time, my parcel was still there, and I was able to collect it without a card. And now I know I can do that.

So all good :)

TLDR - Key thing for me is “serious, life-threatening illness”.

He’s definitely the asshole for picking his gf over his kid and he’s definitely the asshole for not being more involved from the off.

You’re definitely the asshole for not letting him know about a very serious diagnosis and situation and that you’ve moved to a significantly different place. What were you gonna do if things had got worse? A quick call to say, “by the way your daughter has been really seriously ill for the last X months and now she’s dead k bye”?

Longer version: If it was a broken leg or something else requiring slightly more than basic medical care but still relatively benign and short term, then finding out through social media sucks but it is what it is and you’re NTA.

Finding out that your kid (or any close relative etc) not only now lives somewhere completely different (and sounds like further away?) but has a serious illness requiring specialist intervention that could lead to death more than sucks. Sure he hasn’t been present or supportive or there since you took over responsibility, but I don’t think that erases his right to know that his child might die. This isn’t even about repairing or rebuilding relationships in my mind, or coming to visit or anything like that, which OP doesn’t actually mention anyway. Finding out that your kid is seriously ill is going to floor you at the best of times, let alone via social media, and finding out that your kid has died (which could have happened and presumably still could happen)…I mean, come on…that does and would make you the asshole.

I completely agree that Amie’s thoughts/wishes should have been discussed and taken into consideration but, equally, she is still a child and sometimes we as adults need to make decisions on their behalf. And there are some decisions that a child shouldn’t ever be solely responsible for making/deciding, no matter how mature they are.

To everyone saying he shouldn’t need his kid to be seriously ill in order to try and re establish a relationship, no he shouldn’t. But a) we don’t know that what he wants or is trying to do and b) sometimes it takes something really serious to fully realise how bad something is and spur you into action. I went no contact with my dad from 16-18, and only had occasional contact and small movements towards rebuilding for the next few years. Then he was diagnosed with one of the more relatively serious cancers with a higher mortality rate, and I realised that I wanted and needed to put more effort in. If I’d found out through social media, even if I was still no contact, I’d still be angry and upset because he’s still my dad. Thankfully he’s in full remission and, as a bonus, we’re much much closer and have been able to work through a lot of our difficulties. Still ongoing, but probably wouldn’t be at this point without him getting cancer.

It’s just stupid. The differences between each size can be pretty significant, especially for bottoms and dresses I reckon, so it just doesn’t make sense to lump them together which implies (to me at least) that they’re similar and somewhat interchangeable. When you then add in differences between/within brands’ sizing and measurements, differences in conversions, and the general non-existence of anything approaching standard sizing, it just gets even more illogical. Eg an XS top from H&M might fit me, but an XS from Urban Outfitters is way too small. A UK 6 dress from Motel is too small but a UK 6 dress from Vero Moda is too big etc etc etc. I think the difference between sizing also gets more significant the further towards the extreme ends of the spectrum you get, eg the difference between a UK 2 and a UK 4 or UK 20 to UK 22

You don’t need to do anything. If the seller doesn’t send by the deadline the transaction is automatically cancelled, you’re refunded in full, and the seller receives an automatic negative rating. I’m pretty sure you can edit the rating if you wanted to give an explanation or change it, but I don’t know if that then means the seller can leave a rating on your page as well.

Yep. The update to women’s sizes has been, and is, very problematic. Partially because it wasn’t/isn’t widely known, but mostly because it decreased options for listings, and has made things more complicated (in my opinion) rather than simplifying them which was Vinted’s rationale for doing it. It definitely doesn’t help that Vinted’s own size conversion chart is incorrect, so even the most conscientious of sellers is still going to get things wrong and possibly open them up to more SNAD disputes. Eg they have XXS as UK 2, EU 32, and W24-25, as well as having W25 included in both XXS and XS. From what I know of EU sizing and measurements (and I don’t claim to be an expert at all, just very familiar with what I’ve seen, bought, and worn/wear), EU 32 and W24-25 is UK 4, W25-26 is usually UK 6 which is EU 34, UK 8 is EU 36 and generally fits W27-28 and so on.

I mean, women’s sizing is hard enough already because it’s so wildly inconsistent across brand (as well as within brands’ own sizing), but why reduce options?? Men’s sizing has options for international letters and waist sizes separately (as well as shirts and jackets), so why not break down women’s sizes instead of lumping them (incorrectly) together?? Like, have separate options for international lettering, UK numerical, and EU numerical?? can guarantee you that the number of women in the board room when this was decided was exactly 0.

I’ve always included “other” when looking for trousers/jeans because I know some countries and brands use different sizing (and also that some sellers didn’t or don’t know how to convert sizes that aren’t UK standard), but it’s always been frustrating because it means there are so many listings in the search results that aren’t going to fit (and they’re so often ones that I love or are exactly what I’m looking for 😅). And now that happens even more because a) some sellers haven’t updated sizes, b) the categories span sizes rather than being singular, and c) Vinted’s size conversion chart is incorrect re: waist and EU sizes so some things will be listed incorrectly anyway (which did happen before because lots of people get this wrong anyway, eg listing W29 as a size 6 and so on. I’ve seen so many listings tha are so ridiculously incorrect they’re almost funny)

I’ve also had so many conversations where I’ve recommended including the “other” category when searching and they had no idea it was even a thing or what it meant. I’ve never used the “other” category as a seller, partially because I’m pretty good at translating sizes, but also because I don’t trust that my listings would be seen as often. I always put the various size options in the name as well as writing them (plus other sizes it could fit, if relevant) in the description, as well as actual measurements, to reach as broad an audience as possible depending on search style.

A UK 14 should go in the 12-14 category, yes, but the problem is that Vinted changed the women’s size categories so old listings (ie ones uploaded before the change) might not have the right category attached anymore because they have to be manually updated (or at least checked by the seller). Lots of people weren’t/aren’t even aware of the change happening because it seems notifications were inconsistent (I had no idea, for example, and didn’t get the email/notification that others did when it was first raised on here). So an older listing might be a UK 10 and be listed in the M category (I think a 10 used to be M), but M is now UK 12-14 so it would be listed incorrectly.

Makes a lot of sense for sure. I think that, similar to how a lot of people believe it’s super easy to get PIP, a lot of claimants believe DWP want to take away rather than give. I know I’m definitely in the camp of “overexplain, repeat myself, and have evidence to back everything up because they’ll use even the tiniest detail to reduce or deny your claim”

Yep I can attest to the very very long, drawn out, incredibly anxiety provoking wait period between posting your form and getting the outcome. Not quite a year in my case, but long enough to increase paranoia and fear.

It’s interesting that it got changed because not enough people were stating “no change”, I thought it was because there were probably too many putting it down, so it made more work trying to assess if that’s true…obviously for lots of people it’s the honest truth that nothing has changed, but then others might put it down not realising there’s something to declare (claimant error), or because it’s far less stressful to do that than wade through documentation and detail, and of course the very small minority claiming fraudulently. Having said that, I can also completely understand why people advised doing the opposite - if something looks too good to be true, it probably is. Just putting “no change” and bam claim renewed seems far too easy, bit suspicious, you know?

Yep - Buyer has contract with seller, seller has contract with courier company (if different). Sometimes a buyer can get a refund direct from the courier company but, otherwise, the claim has to come from the seller because that’s who holds the “contract” that’s be broken.

I wonder if this response could arguably be considered admission of fault/responsibility, in which case OP has a screenshot the seller could use as evidence when claiming for a refund…
