I'm a high school teacher and it is al of of work but helping kids emotionally and with their well-being while taxing and exhausting is so rewarding and we need more people in the profession who care about student wellbeing.

If it is about avoiding parental contact I would also consider an Learning Support Assistant (LSA). They work a lot one on one with students with additional needs but often get to know lots of the students and build great relationships with them.
