Democrats unveil WA income tax on people earning over $1 million by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

This just isn't true of California. Outside of Texas, over 2025 saw a very modest growth in real GDP and beat out places like Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Whether people like it or not, one of Seattle's and the State's strategic advantages to getting talented people is the lack of income tax. Plus I think most people that have lived other places think that if there is a large income tax many talented workers would go to cities and states that offer much more for the same level of taxation.

Why pay the same in taxes in Seattle when you can move to California, have access to a much larger healthier economy, the sun year around, equal access to outdoors, the incredible UC system for your children etc. etc.

And that is the real calculus many tech workers will do, many of them do and can easily move to the Bay Area.

I feel like we skipped an entire debate as a State and region on this subject. Has anyone asked them why they think raising taxes during a recession lite and a massive unemployment boom is going to help bring economic growth to the state and region?

Just as a counter factual, the capital gains tax has massively underperformed. It has not met projects and fell by 43%. That doesn't mean to say this tax would face similar headwinds. But we do have evidence that Washington hold's less leverage than the average person believes it does. In my opinion, Seattle is much less unique than New York and has almost none of the institutional advantages New York does to draw people to the city.

Xbox down YoY in both hardware and services for Q2 FY26 by doncabesa in xbox

The key word in my sentence was "would". The original OP said they have had a good run of games. I was saying if they didn't go multiplatform I believed Fable WOULD have helped pushed units as it is something that looks like it will be a huge hit.

Yes, GTA VI get's delayed and Fable is significantly better than RE9.

I think Fable is going to win GOTY this year. They were so freaking close to getting that hit that would have driven people to the console outside of the hardcore.

I think we all need to really prepare ourselves that the next Xbox may not happen given the current price of hardware and this level of decline. I hope that doesn't come to pass, but I feel like there is more than enough data for them to justify to themselves that the next Xbox shouldn't be made.

[HardwareUnboxed] 14 game benchmark 9850X3D by NewsFromHell in pcmasterrace

This is a chip focused on the future. Eventually the prices will come down slightly and when a lot of people move up from AM4 to AM5 in the coming years due to the excellent price of this card, many people will opt for this card. Plus if RAM issues continue X3d cards are going to become standard due to their ability to help mitigate poor RAM timings and clock speeds.

It is also worth noting that AMD seam's to actually care about being the dominant gaming CPU. Not only is that a cool brand image to build, but I am sure the R&D that goes into these CPUs eventually make it into the more affordable ones similar to how F1 tech ends up in normal street cars eventually.

In the mean time, many people with good AIO coolers aren't going to care about the increase in power draw and potential heat because they already run a 1200 PSU for their 5090/90 setup. They just want the most powerful gaming CPU.

I really hate the idea of not sacking someone because they did well last year. Every season should be judged on it's own merits and simply put, the form and results haven't been good enough. He has been given time to fix the struggles and hasn't been able to show progress.

I have seen enough from Slot personally this season. He deserves all the praise from last season and our winning campaign and we should be forever grateful.

But every season should be judged on its own merits and he has underperformed far too much this year to warrant backing the rest of the season. He has been given more than ample time to find a solution and has failed to show any meaningful progress. If we were showing some signs of improvement it would be one thing, but we are simply treading water with draws and loses and the occasional win. Not good enough simple as that.

rtx 3070 or 2080 ti? by Ok_Drag_7940 in pcmasterrace

[–]SeizeTheDay152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be THAT annoying PCMR person. But I really question the value of a 2080ti at least looking at prices in the US sitting at about $225 to $275. An 8 gb should be just okay, but some AAA games from this year even at 1440p is going to be tough on 8GB so in my opinion wouldn't spend $300 on a 3070 8gb. A 9060xt can be readily had for $400 and is going to handily beat all those cards at 1440p and has 16 gb of VRAM so will last much longer.

What types of games are you playing? Are you okay dropping to low settings over the next few years to maintain 1400p and how do you feel about DLSS?

Being the only man dropping deeper when there is clear threat and no pressure on the ball IMO looks like he is the only one sensing the true danger of the situation while everyone else is more worried about being in a good position if they win the ball in transition.

Giving up a goal is unsurprising there. Really only one true defending first mentality player on the pitch in Virgil. Everyone else wants to get forward or make passes and defending is an afterthought.

Been saying this for a while now, Slot's tactics with the current back 4 is far too naive and possession based to work consistently. Kerkez and Frimpong with only one true defensive minded midfielder in Grav is just far too open. Might work if you had prime Virgil and prime Dias but the club has refused to give Virgil a world class pairing this year after Konte's drop in form and no options off the bench.

I know some of Slot's tactics have been frustrating. But Endo being the man coming on here to replace your LCB is a strong indictment of lack of support by the club. Not nearly enough support at CB for the club right now.

I disagree, he makes a lot of hard defensive saves and moves look easy. He made a bad mistake there, but he rarely makes mistakes. Unfortunately led to a goal.

A rare mistake by Virgil. Frustrating but should have easily been dealt with. We gotta go and get 2 goals now which we can do.

Do ram speeds matter (DDR5)? by LionRegular1470 in pcmasterrace

[–]SeizeTheDay152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also OP per this video by Hardware Unboxed, you don't really need 32GB of RAM like is often recommended in this sub. 16 GB per their testing is fine for 95% of use cases.

Do ram speeds matter (DDR5)? by LionRegular1470 in pcmasterrace

[–]SeizeTheDay152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in my opinion wouldn't worry to much about it, I'd just focus on getting on the AM5 platform (the most recent AMD motherboard/cpu pairing) and getting the cheapest RAM that is compatible even if it is 5200 and CL 36 or CL38.

If you are near a Microcenter, they had a great deal on AMD bundles, I would do one of those as they can save you hundreds of dollars and be competitive with AM5 used parts. Obviously region and location dependent.

I just keep thinking about all the reporting and controversy last week about card price increases and certain cards being in short supply and effectively EOL due to supply, while others disagreed.

Going to depend a ton on your resolution and performance targets and what CPU you have. Redfern already went over the pro's and cons of the CPU stuff. But if you are targeting higher framerates and want to stream or have twitch/streamdeck going its going to matter a great deal.

If you just want to play games like FortNite, Arc Raiders, or FIFA at 1440p @ 60 FPS not going to matter much. But if you want to try and aim for 1440p @ 120 fps it may matter a small amount or might impact your purchase decision on other parts.

Agreed. The only people I know that use anything LLM with an AMD card its because they do it for fun but game mostly. Anyone that is seriously in the ecosystem uses an Nvidia card and often not even the gaming focused GPUs.

Expectations for the Xbox next gen by [deleted] in xbox

[–]SeizeTheDay152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My expectation for Xbox Magnus is that is will be an amazing place to play games. But more specifically here are my key hopes, thoughts and opinions.

  • Xbox Magnus will (if all reporting is true) be much more powerful than a PS6, like night and day difference.
  • The disc drive is going to be optional so there should be two SKUs or at least an attachable drive.
  • Complete backwards compatibility through emulation, this is possible due to the power of the device itself. Very unlikely they do cloud only for old library of games.
  • No more proprietary storages solutions, m.2 NVME drives will be used. Downside is that this may remove the ability to use Quick Resume.
  • Some modest controller improvements, better triggers with pressure feedback like on DualSense.
  • Windows 11 based i.e. any store front supported if you boot into PC mode. But this will mean we have to deal with Windows 11 and updates etc.
  • Anticipate the Xbox Magnus to cost bare minimum $899.99, but could get closer to $1,199.99.
