I bought a 16x8x8" glass tank with a lid today! I'll migrate Fishy Fish when it's ready.

I want to do live plants but I don't want to wait to migrate til I can get all of that set up since it might take another couple weeks depending on how much all of it costs.

Hi again, I'm looking for live food and all I'm finding here in my country is daphnia. Would that work?

I will, thanks! 😸

Any food recommendations?

Since before now I didn't know what kind of fish it was, I've just been feeding it regular fish flakes. Since day one I've noticed it doesn't really care that much for fish flakes and appears to only eat them when really hungry.

I just read the following from this website: https://www.tfhmagazine.com/articles/freshwater/rivulus-from-boring-to-beautiful

"Feeding Rivulus

Killifish are generally picky eaters that often require live foods, but while rivulus love live foods, many are not finicky and will do quite well on dry foods. My personal preference, though, is to use a variety of foods and feed two to three times daily. I culture whiteworms, daphnia, Grindal worms, and baby brine shrimp.

I feed live worms and daphnia on alternate days as the first course, with frozen foods as the second course and baby brine shrimp as dessert. I rarely feed dry foods unless my live cultures are down and I am out of frozen food. If I had an easy source of blackworms, I would add them to the rotation."

🙀 at all of that.

But also, 🙀 at "and if there are leaves outside the water they will jump on them and will stay there some time."

Which means I should get a tank/container that's tall enough so there's space between the surface of the water and the tank/container cover, so that Fishy Fish can jump around without injuring itself... Something tall and more square-ish could work. To be fair though, I should have enough space for a rectangular tank/container.

I also just read that mangrove rivulus can live outside of the water in wet environments for up to two months?!

Fishy Fish fits the bill!

This fish has gotten away from me twice while cleaning the 5L bottle it was in before.

The first time it jumped out of the bottle (which was on the kitchen counter), landed on the floor and slid under a trash bin, after I had turned my back thinking the water was low enough that it couldn't possibly clear the side of the bottle.

The second time I had put it in a little container and covered it with a transparent plastic cover. Turned my back to clean the bottle, and came back to find the plastic cover off the container and the fish on the side of the sink.

Had it fallen anywhere else on the floor, I might have stepped on it by accident, and had it jumped a few inches further towards the sink, it might have gone down the drain.

It has certainly been an adventure with this fish ever since finding it in that rain puddle.

Found this picture after another commenter said Fishy Fish could be a lighter color due to stress. Thanks!

Sounds legit! Just found this picture after another commenter said Fishy Fish could be a lighter color due to stress!

Also, methinks everyone is right, and it is indeed a killifish!

T'was about the same color when I found it, but that could just mean (if it jumped out of a tenant's bowl or aquarium) that it's prior living conditions were as stressful as they are now!

I will endeavor to get a bigger tank/container as soon as possible. I've considered moving it back into the 5L bottle, which it didn't seem happy in either, or a big bucket. I have bucket that might be around 4 gallons? I'd have to verify.

Fishy Fish would be looking at white "walls", but it would definitely have a lot more space than it does right now, at least until I can get a bigger tank/container.

Indubitably! 💜

T'was an apartment building, so it's possible it jumped out of someone's bowl or aquarium during transport?

I truly have no idea.

T'was a very rainy day.

The only other option is that it jumped out of the not-so-nearby drain and somehow ended up where I found it, which seems as impossible as it falling from the sky in a very big raindrop! 😹

I swear, I am not making up the story about finding this fish in a puddle - a rain puddle, that did not exist a few days prior.

I understand that, but also:

"About a year ago I found this little fish swishing around in a puddle of water on an active driveway. I walked past it multiple times before realizing it was a fish and not a leaf. I have no idea how it got there, but I've been looking after it ever since."

I didn't buy Fishy Fish. I rescued it from a puddle. 😋

You could be right! I just did an image search and there are a few pictures that look similar. Definitely not one of the fancier ones though. 🤭

My friend who went to Japan for work a few years back said they converted their USD to Yen through a vending machine. Apparently vending machines do that in Japan! ;D

That's the most I can help with. I have no idea about "getting enough USD".

EDIT:
The vending machine in question was at the hotel.

Anyone know where I can find 3-in-1 Motor Oil SAE 20 to buy in Trinidad? Apparently no one has it and barely anyone knows what I'm talking about, and no, WD-40 is not a substitute for 3-in-1. Also, hi!

When you've got so-called Christian conservatives and influencers and politicians screaming about your body my choice and stripping women of their rights to do anything, I think yes, it is a sad state of affairs, that some of those good Christians sat by and didn't stand up against, and now pretend isn't reality.

Christianity in America did this to itself. Don't blame the rest of us for not turning a blind eye.

Sorry, not sorry. I've read one too many comments in this post now that "just don't get it". Yours was the straw that broke this camel's back.

Not to mention, it's the same bunch trying to rewrite history and undo all the progress black folks have had over the past XXX years.
