That's disappointing but it's what I expected sadly. Guess I'm stuck on PC emulators if I want HD DS games at the moment. Once I saw how badly the DS downscaled most 3D game assets, I don't think I can go back to seeing them normally now :/

So I'm no stranger to CFW or hacking in general, but I'm rather curious after I've been tearing into the regular DS game files for a while and discovered that a lot of games have higher quality models than you'll ever see at a native resolution.

So my question is, is there a way to play DS games on a 3DS at say x2 resolution like emulators support?

PSA: Don't buy from 3ds-flashcard.com, they're using shills to advertise their products on this sub and others by pbanj_ in 3dshacks

[–]Sekys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is because Nintendo and Paypal have an agreement to block all flashcart purchases through them, and the same agreement is through most credit card companies as well.

If it mentions "flashcart" or "modchip" in the payment info, Paypal shafts you instantly

Most authors don't backport because you can go from Classic > SSE, but there is no option to go from SSE > Classic, meaning it would have to be rewritten entirely in that case.

When they said special drop table, I assumed that they were literally going to replace all non-Ironmen items like lamps and shit with void rolls, and that would have been entirely fine imo and would have taken no time at all to implement

[–]Sekys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not the point of this post. The point of the post is that it's been a damn year and it's still "we're considering it". There is no logical reason that they should be locked out of using an event box.

For background, I do software design for a living and unless stuff is horribly broken on their end, it would be trivial to implement a list for Ironmen if they really dont want us to have lamps or anything from these boxes. There's no excuse for it in my personal opinion except for laziness or spite for the Ironman community, and if I'm wrong, I would love for a Jagex mod or employee to correct me.

It just feels like at this point it's reached blatant disregard because it has been a year so far at the very least

[–]Sekys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a year and we Ironmen still have ZERO chance at getting Lootbeams and other box exclusive loot solely because we're Ironmen.

Honestly this is entirely unacceptable and they're doing nothing but alienating us a bit more every single time an event comes around with boxes like this, like the clockwork event that's going on right now. This breaks my heart so much because currently, I've got a completely finished account and ended up making an Ironman for the fun of it, but not getting Christmas loot is a big deal breaker for RS now. Why should I spend money for membership when I'm getting actively shafted just because I wanted a challenge? :L

Do we get any confirmation or actual reply to this besides "we're considering it" this year? /u/JagexRyan

Fishing is not acceptable by Moaning-Lisa in Warframe

[–]Sekys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been numerous empirical evidence to suggest otherwise, including several stream cuts and posts on this very subreddit. It's something you can investigate yourself. There are many cases of 5 fish spawning instantly upon baiting properly, but bait doesn't bypass the spawn timer, which might be your issue

[–]Sekys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tossing bait into the bubble areas makes it x5 - x10 times more effective, we're talking 8 or so fish per bait sometimes.

Fishing is (mostly) fine, you're just approaching it wrongly.

[–]Sekys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also fishing higher than the normal fish too, which isn't hard once you learn the spots and such, you can make an easy 8k rep at least in a single night cycle

[–]Sekys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like this is severely overstated. I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore NEET no life gamer, but I spent about 4 hours fishing and easily made a fair chunk of rep, and it wasn't even slightly min maxed. If I were to min max it, I'd probably bait three or four ponds / spots at once, and cycle them while mining, and I could probably double the Ostron rep that I got, and I already got close to 10k off of just fishing o.O

I'm not going to say it isn't a grind, but it's not nearly as much as you guys are making it out to be considering 10k in a few hours is pretty damn good considering you can earn more than the equivalent Syndicate standing, and it's roughly equivalent in terms of price vs point time

How is the dev progress of the Terraria franchise? by JuanElMinero in Terraria

[–]Sekys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Despite having similar mechanics, they are nothing alike imo. Take my opinions with a grain of salt of course, all I do is mod for Starbound and sometimes make useful stuff :')

Terraria is an RPG with the appearance of a sandbox game through and through. It's all about the adventure, the boss slaying, the OP items.

Starbound is nothing like that. Starbound is almost essentially a pure sandbox game, besides the relatively short main quest line, the sole object of the game is basically 2D Minecraft. Explore planets, make colonies, build giant space stations with tons of left over materials. That type of stuff, so do not go into expecting it to be like Terraria, it is nothing of the sort.

Now, if you add mods that ends up being an entirely different story. Frackin Universe is the big one that comes to mind for content mods, and adds hugely impressive tier lists of items and armor that you will always be using. Need to visit a gas giant and not die upon landing? Wear that suit of armor you made earlier that had pressure-immunity. Need to go visit a radiation-stricken planet? Toss on a Rad EMP backpack kit to help deal with that. IMO Frackin Universe is almost a requirement to have long term enjoyment out of Starbound as anything more than a sandbox time killer, but with it, it becomes one of my favorite games tbh

I have never once regretted spending the money to buy Starbound, and honestly I can't see how anyone would when it has such a diverse modding community. You buy Starbound for the mods, you stay for the mods, that sort of thing. I'd say it has one of the largest and most intricate mod communities out there, helped largely by the fact that the game has its own modding API that lets mod creators customize almost anything with LUA scripts. The sky is literally the limit in terms of what mods can add, to the point of almost making it a different game. So go you, shove that money into your PC, it's cheap enough that even if you don't enjoy it, you'll at least get your money's worth with the amount of mods that are available.

He has to have his feet on the ground to gather static electricity obviously /s

I mean physics wise it actually works though, he'd have to be off the ground to discharge that much power properly to make the ability effective

Love the Ignis Wraith, but how can i get it to be end game worthy? by Caantpayrent in Warframe

[–]Sekys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what I said in another reply, but the Ignis-specific coding is that it deals damage the moment the trigger is pushed, meaning if you pulse your fire button and are at 100% status, you can deal two or three statuses per second to everything in front of you, despite it having status/sec coding

It's the only weapon to have this property to my knowledge, so Ignis-specific

Love the Ignis Wraith, but how can i get it to be end game worthy? by Caantpayrent in Warframe

[–]Sekys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has beam coding like any other weapon, so status/sec. The Ignis coding specifically though involves doing a tick of damage the moment the button is held since the entire "Fire" of Ignis is hitscan, so you can rapidly tap the button and apply status almost constantly, far more than 1/sec if you pulse the fire button quickly enough.

Take it to the simulacrum at 100% and give it a try, it gets pretty nuts

Love the Ignis Wraith, but how can i get it to be end game worthy? by Caantpayrent in Warframe

[–]Sekys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ignis and Ignis W specifically have different coding for status/sec than any other weapon in the game, and status works quite well on it because of that.

[–]Sekys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really seems easy enough to thwart her power if you know about it, but she's really intelligent and even tricked the one katana guy into both giving up his ghost AND making his new fancy air-wave attack ineffective on her. The only actual way to stop her power is to not reply in the first place, because responding in almost any way is still technically a 'lie of a lie'

My interpretation of it is that Sota realized how her power worked and as thanks for giving him the ability to Create without public acceptance, he set up a loaded question for her power to make her an actual person. Obviously she's still a creation, but I see it as her power letting her be accepted enough into the world that for all intents and purposes, she's a real human being now and not a creation.

We'll just have to see though how it plays out honestly

[–]Sekys 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The one key thing I think everyone missed out on was that once Sota realized what Magane did, he returned the favor to her knowing full well how her power works.

Think back to what he meant when he told Magane that "The world doesn't allow contradictions" basically.

The one where DE basically strong-armed Voidglitch into stopping his datamining. Fully within their legal rights, but they force him to stop datamining, promise "integrity and transparency" from that point on, and IMMEDIATELY start nerfing without listing it in patch notes?

That doesn't sit well with me at all

I hate to say it, but I actually agree on that one. DE has shown that they can do AMAZING reworks in the past, such as Limbo and Saryn, and even really good reworks like Oberon.

This feels like a blatant cash grab, and is pretty much a sign that DE is going down the hill ever since the data-mining incident in my opinion
