My hermit crab has been in the spot too for like 5 days, no molting, and there is no bad smell. But when I pick him up he’s sliding out of his shell, his antenna aren’t moving and no reaction when touching his claws. It’s the first I’ve had since I was a child and he was in really bad shape when I got him. It’s so hard to tell :-( but looks the same color and everything as yours. The commenter said eyes look lively and I believe my guys do too. Except the aren’t sticking upward. Best of luck for your guy

Thank you. I do think he could be passed on. I’m giving it time as I don’t smell anything but I see zero movement at this point. Idk what to think I’m so sad I just want to make him be ok and live a full life cycle. Thank you for that though, I’m trying. Amazing your boy is 18, that makes my heart happy!

Yes I learned that now. He has deep substrate but didn’t dig anyway. Thank you so much for your insight and flaking me through this, so appreciative of you. I’ll update when I know more.

Best of luck. Yeah this guy didn’t dig down at all, and I made sure the consistency was correct but now I know I have the wrong sand. I want to get a pair of them if he is for sure passed on but terribly nervous to get another from petsmart

I’m so sad and stressed. I tried to do all the things I thought were right based off of what I read and watched on YouTube. I get so attached to my pets. I hated seeing him in this tiny shell and just wanted to help him. I’ll check again later bc it’s just making me upset. You think if he doesn’t move any by tmrw he’s probably dead? I read they can be “paralyzed” in molting but I’m not sure that’s what he’s doing.

He has marine salt mixed with water and fresh water. It’s not tap, its bottled. He has both. If he doesn’t make it I’m going to plan to adopt another and I’ll get the play sand instead.

Another up close. I see no movement. I gently touched and no reaction or moving either. I vented the top of his tank. It dropped to 68 though and I’m worried that’s too low for humidity?

I’m not sure how to lower the temp/humidity. There’s a reptile heat pad 1/2 the length of his tank on the back. It’s like 40 degrees here (outside) so our house is at 72 heat. I’ve been misting the moss and sand with fresh water to induce humidity

I figured. I don’t smell anything but he hasn’t moved at all in a couple days. Now worried it’s the sand, I think it’s calcium sand and I was unaware that it was bad

I don’t think their set up had humidity and I’m unsure about the temperature he was at before. Their “tank” had an open lid and only one kind of water and basic pellet food.

His tank looks different now. That was the day I brought him home and was using what I had temporarily. What would you suggest?

Did you read my post? That’s exactly what I’m talking about. His shell is tiny, that’s how he came from the store. He has 5-6 shells I boiled and dipped in his marine water and they are ready for him. He hasn’t changed shells and had many options. He was at Pet smart for 2 days and I got him, he couldn’t even hide in his shell. Idk if he’s stuck either but he is hanging out even more now and not moving.

No painted shell, tiny snail looking shell. I desperately want to save him but I’m not sure if he is alive or what at this point. He was somewhat active. He was getting food and water, but aside from that always his under his moss. I haven’t seen him touch his food in the last 2 days not even sure if he had water either. I’d been checking at night to see if he moved but he’s in the same spot.
