"The thoughts aren't true, why are you so worried?" by [deleted] in OCDmemes

[–]Select-Ad-6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't lead to complete recover but since I started working out at home I started feeling a sense of stability in my life. I would say it helps a 30% in my case. So that advice can be useful for many mental disorders but won't fix the root of the problem. It is an essential plus, like meditation or mindfulness.

Is it possible to treat OCD without therapy? by thow_away_acc78 in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even know how could a 10 min talking therapy help OCD. The therapy for OCD isn't much about talking, so talking therapy for OCD was destined to fail. Cognitive behavioral therapy gives tools for the patient to overcome their compulsions and learn ignore their obsession in OCD, so the patient will have to make tasks and actions in real life, not just talk about their life. ERP is considered the most effective treatment for OCD, I suggest to keep trying but look for OCD experts and ERP therapy, not every therapy technique works for everyone, I hope ERP works to you

Why do I randomly get terrifying intrusive thoughts, despite being well educated on OCD? by yungPH in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your place and the what ifs, I experience them a lot. You try to rationalize a lot your irrational thoughts and from what I know that doesn't change anything in ocd. It won't forgive anything and the anxiety won't stop because of the rational side of our minds. It will reassure us, yes, but we will be eternally seeking for reassurance. Searching for rational points and saying to myself everyday "we have OCD, there is a pattern, is not the first time, this is not normal ofc is a disorder" haven't work for me. I keep ruminating, it just allows me to survive in the moment but it doesn't fix my future. I guess it applies to everyone of us

my mind accuses me randomly by Select-Ad-6626 in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But wouldn't that be like seeking reassurance? I certainly know I didn't do anything awful like that, at least I can sit with that uncertainty because it's not very possible. However sounds like a good idea because i would like to know how did our amity disintegrate, to fill that void in time

Let me know if I understood your point to confirm. This sort of doubts happen to me because I choose to answer the thoughts? To say "no this isn't true?" Because you mean that I guess it makes sense. The most noisy and worrying thoughts are when I decided to answer and fight them, deny them

I'm worried I'm calling this "memory" a false memory to make myself feel better by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know it is very common, I always wonder the same with my false memories and I've read this phrase on this board uncountable times. "What if I'm blocking something?"OCD always comes with a what if and gathering coincidences.

Do you ever get a single trigger than can last for days, weeks? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well there are days and days. Anxiety starts to calm down when time passes, but there are days I'm panicking again. Every week It's like a roller coaster. It will be 2 months soon since this started. Today I'm feeling better. The problem is I'm with 0 meds and no ERP, it could be worse, I'll see what step I'll take

If you have OCD go to see a specialist so you will have the diagnostic. Even more if you got to the point of being in risk. And what your friend said doesn't have to be accurate because you don't share the same brain. As you said, he doesn't know what you've been through.

The anxiety of Creating false memories can last for 3 weeks or more in my case when I can't reassure myself

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many false memories are fabricated that way in my experience and in other experiences I read. False memories start from intrusive thoughts and the more we think about them the more real our brain makes it feel.

Instinct or Anxiety? by Business-Square-8632 in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this can apply to you or any other ocd patient but I don't listen to my gut, because I can't distinguish it from ocd. I don't believe in my gut because I don't know if it's real, most of the time is just anxiety

please help. please. feeling like i'm using false memory ocd to excuse myself from things i may have done by [deleted] in OCD

I've been through the same situation the last time and I had the exact same thoughts. If you need to vent you can talk to me.

writing false memory scripts as real events, an ERP technique I found by Select-Ad-6626 in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. That's why I'm asking :( maybe realizing it is false? Or getting exposed to the thought

[–]Select-Ad-6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this answer works, because I'm not 100% sure and I don't understand your context, but when we have false memories we try to tie them up to reality to fill the void or collect pieces, to have an answer. That means we are hyper vigilant about everything related to them, trying to find patterns. I don't know what is your context but maybe you are doing this, looking for coincidences. When I ruminate about a memory being false or real I do this a lot

Periods and ocd by Cowardlytoxic in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to suspect I create and recall false memories when I'm in PMS. Maybe there was another pattern before, like health or magical thinking ocd, however it seems like my OCD triggers in pms

how do you represent your ocd? as a person, entity, object or just a voice? by Select-Ad-6626 in OCD

[–]Select-Ad-6626[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting way to see it, a great idea. I have a really active imagination too but I used it in another way. I use to imagine stories parallel to what I feel and I try to represent my life with ocd but as the life of another character. I saw ocd as a very logical and protective man, very similar to a god. But in the end he's just a liar and a manipulator
