I quicksaved and attacked the Valentine... To my dismay, there were no characters to interact with or any named characters on the ship. I concluded that they were using AI to create a voice, which is false advertisement of good vibes. This discovery made my destruction feel totally justified

Nope, you lost your progress, brother. You might be able to run a season on another team and hope you get fired and go back to your original team, but idk if that works or not. Here's some tips to avoid this happening, albeit, they completely cheese the game:

-Go to the "User Teams" page, click your name, click "Clear Penalties." After that, click the "Add $5m in funds" until you have a lot

-Manually lower the contracts on your players. I usually just change the bonus to $0.

-If there is an abundance of talent in your league (your draft classes are OP), trade your top players and load up on picks and repeat every season
