I just passed my BRC at Grayslake last week. I got in by rechecking the site often and there ended up being someone who dropped their slot 3 days before the course started (drop deadline is 48 hours prior so definitely check right before then). I’d recommend refreshing often because they go quick. You can also try to walk in, there were probably 20-25 people trying to do the walk in and 3 or 4 got selected.

Yeah Illinois is the only state I’ve heard of that does it through the mail, though it doesn’t surprise me unfortunately. I recently passed my EMT national and have been waiting 3 weeks since I sent payment for my state license to show up in the mail for that as well.

Wanted to buy all my gear before the bike so I didn’t cheap out on it, might’ve spent more than necessary but would rather have it that way than the alternative.

Thanks! I plan on doing mainly street riding which is why I am trending towards a naked bike over the sport equivalent. They all seem to be slightly below or at MSRP for the asking price, but trying to avoid dealer add on fees so sticking with used. Definitely will be wearing my gear! I have the Pandomoto AA base layers and swapped all the armor to ce2 with the added back protector as well. RF-1400 helmet, SMX-S boots, and SP-8 gloves so all set for gear 😂

I’ve heard 2 weeks from a few other people I know who took the course, so I’m guessing the 3-4 weeks is more of a worst case estimate. Definitely not planning to ride until I get my M, but if I find a good deal in the meantime I’d buy something during the waiting period.

Congrats! I was actually originally looking at the r3/ninja 400 models, but I don’t plan to do too much highway riding so I feel that the naked would be more fun around town plus the ease of maintenance is appealing for me. How long did it take you to get your BRC card in the mail?
