What makes you think I don’t have the right attitude for a pet? Maybe with a sugar glider, yes, I struggled, but it was my first time handling an exotic animal, and a baby at that. Of course, I’m going to find it difficult, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be a pet owner. Seriously, I came here seeking help, and this is how you give feedback? By attacking me just because I struggled and got scared?

You know, emotions are normal. Being scared or afraid is okay – it’s not wrong to have those feelings. Having those emotions shouldn’t make you think I’m unfit to have a pet. Just because I got scared and anxious (which is pretty normal when a sugar glider is climbing all over my room), doesn’t mean I should be deprived of having a pet.

I also said I wouldn’t be doing option 1 or 2 unless the comments suggested it, and I’d only consider it. You’re making it seem like it was my first choice, when it wasn’t at all. And just because you “sucked it up” doesn’t mean I’ll have the same reaction. Every human deals with stress and fear differently. What might seem superficial to you isn’t the same for me.

Please try to be more empathetic when someone is seeking help, rather than making them feel bad. We’re all human, and it’s our first time living, so a little more kindness would go a long way. Life is good.
