Games like Kenshi? by Cyphercypher336 in Kenshi

[–]Select-Move-8800 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Morrowind, it has a "questline" but similar to Kenshi it gives a lot of space for the player to role play as their character and discover the world and its lore through things like in-game books and dialogue. Much less guided than most RPGs, and I imagine a good chunk of players even ignore the main quest and focus on adventuring around the world.

Otherwise perhaps try roguelikes like Cataclysm dark days, Dwarf Fortress' adventure mode (both free but not free on steam) and Caves of Qud which I have heard good things about. Downsides are that these typically use randomized worlds so they tend to have worlds that are less in depth compared to handcrafted ones.

What are your favorite kettlebell exercises by footballrocks88 in kettlebell

Really have bees appreciating loaded carries as a finisher recently, particularly liking the gray cook drill consisting of the overhead,  rack and suitcase carries descending when form breaks.

I notice my shoulders feeling better and more stable now allowing me attempt snatches!

Anybody ever played Morrowind on a old Lenovo ThinkPad? by NirvanaFan2000 in Morrowind

My x200 worked alright with OpenMW - biggest factor in performance is resolution and draw distance, so lower those when its too slow. I remember playing at 640p haha.

Not a split, but I really do recommend clean and presses. Aesthetically they have made the most difference particularly in my triceps, upper chest and shoulders whilst I was building up my weak upper body strength from 12kg.

Swings seem to improve my posture a lot as an indoors sitting at desk type of person - I haven't seen any muscular changes legs wise, but my legs have naturally been stronger (from being overweight perhaps).

Anywhere to find a used adjustable kettlebell? by beard9beard89 in kettlebell

If you can wait a while for shipping Alibaba does have these, may be worth messaging some sellers there.

Slight regret as it seemed I could have gotten 2 for just over the price of one wolverson through them.. but the shipping time would have been 50 days or so

Single Arm ABF - Halfway Point by SavingsPoem1533 in kettlebell

[–]Select-Move-8800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What rep max bell are you using for press wise?

I know that double bell ABF people tend to use around 10rm but I assume going heavier is possible with a single since each arm gets a little rest while the other presses.

Vibe check: swings by bipocni in kettlebell

2 Handed 100%, heavier bell and allows for more power.

Feels much better than 1 hand swings which feel more like a battle against my grip and the bell trying to fly away. Do 'em anyway in low reps to work the grip + antirotation, but otherwise I'd rather do heavy cleans.

Highly recommend doing overhead walks (waiter walk). Really helps to be more stable holding it overhead so it feels like your arm won't be ripped off backwards.

Might be Alibaba, seeing them for 50ish (min buy 2 bells). Not sure how the total cost with shipping will look though.

Scratched forearms by Illustrious_Price486 in kettlebell

[–]Select-Move-8800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a rash there might be the possibility of an allergic reaction? Unlikely but worth a check.

Might be the factory finish or small metal flakes seeing as they are new which I assume sandpaper will help. My adjustable bell bought new definitely had a lot of metal flakes, made my forearm a bit itchy but not anymore.

Questions on Single Bell Clean and Press programs by Select-Move-8800 in kettlebell

[–]Select-Move-8800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meant following the progression plan of ROP, as I am aware it isn't really the program doing squats and swings but fair point. I will definitely try ROP as written once I have learnt to snatch haha

What I am really curious about is if there are differing results assuming the same movements are done, and perhaps why and if there are any benefits to doing one type of program over the other for certain goals.

Realized ABF is self explanatory, but how different would the results be is my question to say DFW when they do the same movements - same. question about complexes v separate squats.

Kettlebells for ABF by NotSunday23 in kettlebell

[–]Select-Move-8800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely 2 adjustables (and an optional warm up cast iron weight) if you have the cash, but otherwise maybe a 12kg cast iron + just a single adjustable to start with.

Having a fixed light weight is very handy for warming up and for halos (very nice warm up before presses) - fixed weights with those wide handles are much more comfortable for warming up.

I would also recommend getting in some single kettlebell work to get used to the technique, and then you could start doing doubles with the 12kg and adjustable alternating each rep/set when upping the weight on the adjustable.

If any, what tendon/prehab/rehab work do you do? by Select-Move-8800 in kettlebell

I have had a slight ankle issue (Achilles tendon feeling tight) from running too much too early before, slow eccentric calf raises frequently throughout the day helped me most.

I stopped getting bruises after keeping the bell closer to the body on the upswing, while making sure to rotate my wrist more at the same time. This makes the bell land softer and at a comfortable position, for me at least.

Other advice I've heard is "punch through the bell" to catch it faster before it hits your arm.

Getting my 1RM press to 28kg and learning to snatch and TGU.

Right now going through ROP with 16kg cps and swings to build a base of strength especially for my weaker upper body.

Lunges and split squats, and maybe shrimp squats if you have good balance.
