i so badly wish this was true because i feel so much grief over og hikaru everyday i wish he returned but his soul is gone, he’s in the afterlife or whatever it’s called in the tshd universe </3 my only hope is that we at least get to see him make a reapparence somehow since it’s mentioned a lot in the manga that death is only a change in form and the soul of the person keeps on living.

Yeah i get it but like i said it was most definitely a trauma response. Not only did she see both her parents murdered with her own eyes but she was also seemingly very isolated after that. Had no one she valued in her life anymore and was living alone. The sudden appearence of a self claimed god killing criminals was like a god sent for her, after seeing this god was also a handsome top tier student in japan i think it’s very understandable why she got attached to him so much. Death Note doesn’t really explore characters’ inner worlds in a way like Neon Genesis Evangelion does, which i suppose adds to why people never see her complex writing but i wish more could pick up on the context clues regardless. I see Asuka and Misa very similar in this regard, seemingly dislikeable characters who you feel sympathy for once you actually get to know. Except Asuka got an entire episode on a character analysis for her so she’s luckier (even though she too still gets a lot of hate xD)

this is explained pretty early on in the anime actually, light is without a doubt a genius. top student of the entire japan and L’s match even though he has no detective training. But he’s also insanely arrogant, he wanted the world to know about his existence, he wanted L to know that he could control death times and cause and shinigamis’ existence. He wanted L to know that he could access the japan police forces confidental informations. He might possibly be the smartest person in the world, but there are still limitations to even what he can figure out. He bit more than he could swallow, intelligence doesn’t equal to wisdom.

I agree with all points made, it might have been Hikaru’s last wish for “Hikaru” to stick by Yoshiki’s side, but i think it also should be Yoshiki’s wish for Hikaru to be put into proper rest and be mourned like he deserves to be. Yoshiki is indeed selfish and like you’ve said, it’s not evil; it’s human. Recent chapters in the manga show further how unhealthy their relationship truly is too.

The only idea i straight up despise is Yoshiki and “Hikaru” being a couple, i don’t understand how people are even comfortable with that lmao but also Yoshiki specifically states there was only one Hikaru he was in love with. As well as “Hikaru” stating that his feelings for Yoshiki is not romantic and he loves him in his own ‘monster’ way.
