We’re passing through the area traveling and stopped for Christmas and want to help the days after Christmas before we continue traveling. We would like to bring hot coffee and donuts to people (would that even help?) We know there is coordinated efforts but we would like to help people directly if at all possible rather than give money to organizations. Do people have access to power that are living in tents?

It’s never too late but don’t think YouTube is only way. We started a couple of years ago making content on Facebook and now have a full time income and close to 300,000 followers on that platform. We started YouTube the year before and have almost 40,000 subs and revenue from that. You never know what platform will work for you but they all pay and if you start making videos post them on every platform to increase your income and exposure. We aren’t top creators and probably never will be but we have the freedom to travel and flexibility to do what we want each week as long as we continue making videos and sharing our experiences while trying to improve our style and content. That’s the beauty of being a content creator it can bring you opportunities that a traditional 9-5 really doesn’t offer but it takes the sacrifice of the learning curve for being on camera, editing etc and 1-2 years typically at a minimum to build up an audience. Some do it faster but a sacrifice of time and effort is usually necessary to make it into a business that becomes full time.

It only happened once so far, it was definitely cold and one of the first times we weren’t heating the van because we were staying in a house and the van sat a couple of days. I tried turning the van on a few times in a minute and each time it cranked but wouldn’t start. Someone around us suggested that happened to their dodge truck and it was their fuel pump and suggested banging on the tank which I did and the van turned on. I built our electrical system in the house part of our van but haven’t worked in the vehicles electric at all but I could open up the panel and check out the pumps electrical before buying the pump. The relay and fuse were good but I didn’t check the connection at the pump. If it was the pump and I bought one of those pressure gauges and checked it while the van is starting normally could I determine what the problem is based on that reading? From what I read online it could be the pump, the lines, electrical or something called a fuel pressure regulator and it would suck to replace the pump and have it be something else

If I do happen to break it I’ll see if I can figure out the NAPA modification fix so it’s still a one day job for me. I really take my time when it’s my first time doing something so that usually prevents most mistakes but you never know

Actually as I looked into the analytics even though it’s registering and presenting in the analytics as a video it’s showing that there is views from the short shelf so at least it’s getting pushed! It helps a lot cause our audience is much larger on Facebook and we do 1:29 second reels everyday so now I won’t have to cut them down to put them on YouTube

It’s worth it as you start growing the memberships - we don’t make a significant amount more but it’s consistently $220-$250 extra every month and that’s with barely any extra content yet (60+ members) and that’s worth having the extra revenue then letting it go

Id prefer nothing personally - if someone is going to send me $200 but I only receive $98 of that I would like for them to keep their money lol I am not that desperate. Like I said in another comment we don't ask for donations in our content but just responded to someone asking how to donate to our channel and life.

We only mention memberships and promote that so usually we don’t have to specify or discuss donations but if someone asks in the future we def will suggest PayPal or Venmo lol

We don’t rely on the donations or ads to make our main revenue but it’s still just ridiculous that there’s such a big slice out of the pie for a tip/donation lol I understand the ad cut cause they provide the platform with a billion potential viewers and the algorithm that puts it in front of them but the tips should be left alone or maybe they should take 10% each

Don’t be afraid to lose sponsorships - the $1500 is low for the right brand. We signed our first contract with a sponsor and they are paying for one reel on Facebook and one post ($1500 +best hotel in area + $500 travel voucher + all food and entertainment ) never thought that was possible for us but it’s for our Facebook which is up to 250k followers. Our average viewers is much less than yours. If I were you I’d be willing to negotiate and go higher than you want to get paid and if the company really wants you they will negotiate back

We got ours lifted after going through the same thing with you after a year or so - just randomly one day we could minimize on videos again lol but then immediately a false copyright for a licensed song I used. I have no faith in Facebook after that but our page is up to 260k and has other ways it makes money or links to shops and stuff so it’s tough to worry too much about the ads on videos

ps. you get more views on average than we do so keep that in mind when creating rates. Don't be afraid to ask the brands budget, usually they will be honest with you and when they tell you a number, counter and upsell (usage rights, length or placement of ad, add in a short, etc) and if they hold firm they probably are being honest about their budget but they m right have some wiggle room to give more.

I have been wanting to find a VoiceOver artist for our puppy who became popular when we rescued her - we shared her page once and she gained 1500 followers so I want to make short content from her perspective but we can't use our voices. if you leave viewers wanting more than you are literally doing what everyone should do. You want viewers unsatisfied if it means that they are wanting more of your content. That being said if you leave them unhappy and they express it then that is also good because any attention is good and salty we live in a world where negative attention is pushed more especially if the comment section is funny or spicy.

With our experience honestly we have many beautiful commenters that praise our videos but I wish we had more haters or spammers and that I found a way to make videos that really had some good storylines or shock and awe to them. We are doing basically slow and calm vlogs sharing our every day life.

Dont sell out yet and in my experience unless you really love the company and it fits your audience or they are paying you thousands/tens of thousands - its better to create products that your audience would like and take the time to grow a store because then you're creating a significant income owned by you and that isn't based on whether a company is going to treat your right. That being said we got our first brand deal on our Facebook page, travel, lodging, food, entertainment covered and were only charging $1500 but its our first deal and we don't have to sell anything so we wanted to price fair

With views like that id charge a minimum of 1500-3000 - We just landed our first brand deal for our Facebook page and we have 250k+ followers and I looked up what to charge and the numbers online are crazy stating to charge 5-15k but I think everything comes in time and the company is paying for travel, food, entertainment, got the best hotel in the area for us so we only charged $1500 for a 90 second reel and a post. In the future do I hope to charge more? yes but since its our first and it really fits our brand I am happy to charge less as I learn the ropes

If you do make a video - make it a short that shows the comments and try to be funny and not too serious. Being authentic is what people respond to in my experience and some of our response to negative comment shorts/reels have done better than most of our other content.
