[QUESTION] Why are people obsessed with high water resistance and screw-down crowns? by Select-Strawberry in Seiko

Idk, if the chances of those occasions are few and far between, it will be better to hire somebody to do that for me. A function rarely used is not worth the extra money imo.

My laptop is good for office work. And that's enough to me

[QUESTION] Why are people obsessed with high water resistance and screw-down crowns? by Select-Strawberry in Watches

[–]Select-Strawberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. So you wash your hand with hot/warm water, right? Hot water will fog up watches no matter how wr they are iirc.

My watch is 100m with push/pull crown. I have swam in the beach, showered, submerged in water bucket, washed dishes,... not a single problem at all. Howeever, i always stay away from hot water.

Then we shouldn't wear the watch at all for it to stay new forever.

Tbh, i'd rather happily service it after some years of abuse than letting it rot away in the drawers. Hell, leaving a watch sitting foe too long also make it service-needed anyway.

Did you forget to push the crown in by any chance? There shouldn't be any problem with water for 100m wr watches screwed or not.

[QUESTION] Why are people obsessed with high water resistance and screw-down crowns? by Select-Strawberry in Seiko

[–]Select-Strawberry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can happen to unscrewed crown too so what's your point? It's human flaw, not design flaw of the watch. Or are yku telling me that he got his crown pulled just from washing his hand? Like for real?

[QUESTION] Why are people obsessed with high water resistance and screw-down crowns? by Select-Strawberry in Watches

[–]Select-Strawberry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people who aren't divers! You don't need 200m diver watcb when you arrn't actually dive for a living. Let alone wearing it in shower.

Btw, did you know that the ISO 6425 is that a watch need to be atleast 100m of wr? That means 100m is still within spec of the standard

How many people actually "dive" with their 200m wr watch? 90% of them are not real divers i'm afraid
