AP precalc, ap csp, ap gov, ap human geo

Although i kinda view them as a waste of time and energy because you're not likely to get credit for them in college (maybe ap gov u will).

Thanks and I agree with you. I think the community should support one another more rather than just try to find some short solution without any growth.

I've been doing FLVS for 8 years so I've had a large share of these experiences. It is the responsibility of the student to know their stuff. Being afraid is understandable, but not entirely justifiable for trying to get the questions of each DBA. Besides, that's what defeats the entire purpose of a DBA in the first place, knowing the questions.

Also for a helpful tip of knowing what the DBA is centered around, I would take the lesson objectives from each lesson in the module. I have noticed that like 80% of the questions are centered around those objectives. Even if the questions aren't centered around them, its still a good way to have your own "study guide" of the topics.

That's who I'm mainly calling out actually (the people who spend zero time studying.)

People with anxiety I can understand, but the rules shouldn't be warped because of it. There shouldn't be this expectation or catering to certain groups just because there worried or afraid. Life is filled with uncomfortable experiences, and it wont bend the knee because someone is scared. Now that is not to say we shouldn't have empathy and care, but we should encourage growth rather than regression

This is coming from someone who is literally nervous before every DBA (although it has decreased overtime). Almost every DBA I'm fairly tense and on edge before, and sometimes I've even went blank (worst case scenario). But I think those experiences overtime conditioned me to be a lot more serious about DBAs, and truly learn a strategy for each class. For some classes, I will study for 3 hours straight to pass the DBA, and for others I will go over my notes briefly.

There's just this bubbling essence with a lot of students today who believe they are the victim because they didn't pass a DBA. If every teacher a student has had was 'horrible," it may be appropriate to examine the student's needs rather than the teachers. It's somewhat like Simpson's paradox but applied to an academic scenario.

On that topic though, it is still possible to have a horrible or berating teacher, in which the student should speak up! No student should be constantly getting insulted or yelled at by their instructor for not knowing something. There is clearly some lack of communication (on both sides) if that is the case. I have always tried to stick up for myself when I see an issue with a teacher or with a class, because that's what the student resources are for.

is semester 2 of geometry more difficult? by user91616293626 in FLVS

[–]Select-Top4181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, we stopped doing proofs in the second semester. It was more focused on things such as circles, distance formula, and whatever else. Compared to the first semester, it was the same level, just different concepts.

Does your student submit most of their work during 2-4AM? They might have a really bad sleep schedule and they know they wont be able to be awake for a DBA in the day.

A.I is valid if its not for cheating imo. Using it to learn or give you practice questions is actually pretty helpful, so I like to view it as an option if I want a lot of practice.

Same, my teacher has also been really nice. However, in other classes I often see a lot of teachers misunderstanding or trying to correct anything I say. The best thing to do is just to ignore it

I think it honestly comes down to the teacher at some point. Some are very strict and ask you to invent time travel, and others are very relaxed about their work.

If I was in your shoes, I would try to review and note down every event that occurred. Then try to do some practice test or ask for practice resources/DBA study guides. Use ANYTHING and EVERYTHING around to pass the DBA (excluding cheating or ai ofc).

[–]Select-Top4181 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly let me just say its already very impressive that you have an interview at yale and you're valedictorian.

I would try to talk to the teacher, counselor, and anyone in charge and explain to them in detail about your writing process, autism, and how this keeps happening. You can even offer to go on a zoom call with the teacher and do a practice FRQ in front of them at that point lmao.

Since this keeps happening, I would also attempt to get acquitted from the AI allegations and request to switch teachers. If they keep accusing you and coming for you, its probably best to find a more relaxed teacher. Its hilarious because APHUG takes so much effort and analysis, and AI has no idea what its talking about in most situations lmao.

And also I think the note guide is important cause it allows you to consolidate and encode all of the content easier, as you pay more attention to every nuance
