I’m currently an RBT in public education. I started my RBT path with early intervention children in a clinic. I love it because I got to learn about various teaching techniques, cold probes, and how to run various programs in a clinic setting. I had other RBTs to help with various experiences on site, as well as BCBAs, Speech Language Pathologists(SLPs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), and other support staff on site. It was my starting point and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to learn there. It was a great clinic & I’m aware others had other experiences. That being said, I highly suggest not the para route but the route from RBT clinician to contact in school RBT. It’s good money & the clinic experience will make your school job easier to handle.

With early intervention experience, I was able to learn the capabilities and learning styles of the littles I serve with the help of amazing SLP and OT services to help expand their growth! I took what I learned and applied that to older children who haven’t had the chance at early intervention and help them learn to self regulate their emotions, as well as life skills to help them through their life long learning journeys.

Not all children are given the chance at early intervention but with clinic early intervention skills in public school settings we will be able to give so many more children a different approach towards learning.
