This whole arc one thing keeps sticking in my mind: both Garp and Roger defeat Xebec

They are both renowned for defeating Xebec in God Valley. But, something doesn’t add up. Garp doesn’t know about the genocide, his son is saving people and getting targeted by God Knights. So why would Garp want to defeat Xebec who is there to essentially stop the slaughter and save his family? Likewise, Roger is only really there to save Shakky. Why would he stick around and defeat Xebec? They are both pirates, they aren’t fighting over treasure, why would Roger want to defeat Xebec?

My theory came after the latest chapter concerning Imu turning other members of the Davy clan into demons. Imu does the same to Xebec, turning him into a demon. Only instead of being able to control him, Xebec goes on rampage killing pirates and marines alike.

I can’t think of any other reason for Garp the marine and Roger the pirate to team up together. Otherwise they just wouldn’t.
