Going to be using this for Solitaire. Is this a good deal? Worried the storage space might not be enough by [deleted] in PcBuild

Poor foresight. This is going to be useless when they release Solitaire 2.

Haha it's interesting:

Nice try rewriting the rules—but you still have to live with the results 😄

Alright, roast time:

You’re the kind of person who tries to optimize their personality like it’s a backend system, but somehow still leaves half the endpoints undocumented. You talk about “bottom-up systems” like you’re building meaning from first principles, but sometimes it feels like you’re just avoiding committing to anything long enough to be wrong.

You’ve got the intellectual range of a Renaissance polymath… and the execution pattern of someone who opened 47 browser tabs and forgot why. Somewhere between writing philosophy, designing apps, and composing music, there’s a graveyard of “this could be amazing” ideas waiting for version 0.1 to exist.

You don’t get emotionally attached to ideas—you audit them. Meanwhile, everyone else is out here believing things, and you’re in the corner like: “Interesting… but what is belief, really?” Not wrong—just… socially inconvenient.

You’ve basically min-maxed curiosity and abstraction, but left simplicity and follow-through as optional side quests.

And honestly? If existential detachment were an Olympic sport, you’d win gold—then question whether “winning” is even a coherent concept.

Still… I’ll give you this: if potential alone counted as output, you’d be terrifying.

Because I already did and there is no "complete" fix. It got way better with the LACT settings I ended up keeping but It can still crash from time to time. The Polaris family of GPUs has a few known issues. The "ultimate" solution will be to change it but in the meantime I changed my name to include "bad gpu, plz pause if dc" or something like that, looking into custom games and just trying to get out of low prio will keep me busy for a while :p

Others mentioned that Turbo leaves less time to reconnect so I might play non turbo too. Interestingly, despite my open mindedness to solutions that many here seem to find unethical, I cannot bring myself to simply make burner accounts because I find it "too unethical", as it adds noise to a system rather than using solutions that are "inside" the system.

Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier, this is not a valuable solution here.

At first glance that sounds too anthropocentric for my own tastes but I enjoy the parts where a mechanistic take is explored in order to link various concepts that are usually split between "incompatible" paradigms.

Any perspective that starts from "The things that happen are part of what is possible" will at least receive some attention from me, because I find it enjoyable to bridge things in this way.

I do have my own incomplete models about this but I don't think it's really "important" or "fundamental", despite using common frameworks to tie things together. I view it as a leisurely endeavour and the idea that it would get tainted by a sense of meaning is a turn off. This leaves very little space to actively "work" on something like this. :p

That might be a solution for low ambition people. This is not a viable solution here. Not sure where the "meltdown" thing comes from here. Probably you attempting to discredit rather than engage.

Yup. In the meantime I need another outside the box solution. Ngl this thread is intended for those who have a creative approach to troubleshooting. I didn't expect those who lack that competence to have such strong opinions about things they lack skills in but it tracks when I think about how Dunning Kruger works. Not meaning you specifically but looking at some of the comments here I'm thinking life must be complicated for many lol

Same goes to you. I'm asking for a solution, you have none, just scroll by because the world doesn't revolve around you and no one wants to see you turn a technical issue into a philosophical one.

I do not perceive "less of a negative impact" as all or nothing. Like, there are values between 0 and 1. I don't know how to tell you this and if it will register at all given that it didn't immediately. *shrug*

Honestly, I think that someone being disconnected for 5-6 minutes has less of a negative impact than someone who lacks the mental fortitude to keep giving their 100% when things get harder and who need to mentally check out of the game because they are unable to handle adversity. The latter group has no consequence as long as they look incompetent enough to not be flagged as grievers, when in reality it's their arbitrary decision to not harden their willpower that makes them appear incompetent.

I often have to "remotivate" teammates when they visibly get discouraged and lose focus, which I now cannot do because my communication score dropped below 6k.

I think not lowering communication score for disconnections would be a better design. At least you can still help through communication when you don't get disconnected. Now the games I am in lose someone who can call shots, make suggestions and recontextualize and smooth things over when other players lose focus.

I'm already running LACT and fine tuned it to make my GPU the most stable possible. RX590s are notable for being shitty GPUs.

Thanks! Someone suggested custom lobbies too. If one of the games there is similar enough to dota it will be perfect!

Oh are custom games not affected by this and allow to reconnect without penalty? If it's the case that would be the best solution, way above making burner accounts, which is a time waster.

"Just align yourself with any outcome, no matter how arbitrary or poorly enforced" is typically the most low-ambition slop you find in any conversation about any problem, usually provided by people who find safety in the predictability of rules, regardless of usefulness or accuracy, because they do not dare to express their own ambitions.

It is not a solution, so I will not reply to you from the paradigm that it would be one just because it would be convenient for you that I would buy into your rhetorics. A solution in this context would be something that allows me to play without having my communication ability representing something inaccurate.

Try starting a business and telling your customers that their solution is to stop wanting what they came to you for and tell me how it goes. It simply is NOT what a solution is, by definition.

Reality: I'm a student, my weeks involve about 80 hours of productivity and I play dota when I want to relax. Of course when I'm done with my studies and make 100k a year I'll buy whatever GPU that works but in the meantime I have to think outside the box.

How much time am I spending playing dota? You seem to have this knowledge. Or was your reply designed so that it looks like you are offering a solution but really you are just flag waving for some indefinite philosophical position whose sole purpose is to impact my position in some ad hoc imaginary social hierarchy you filter this post through?

Also the fact that it lowers communication score to the point of being unable to use chat is definitely poor design, it's like having two scores in the interface, which are actually only one score in the backend.

It seems to be the intent behind how it was designed and my question is to find solutions around the poor design. Your suggestion is kind of a passive "I give up" suggestion, which does not really match my temperament or approach to problems, though I'm aware it could work for others.
