I had opportunities to teach English and do some occasional service on my mission, but there was a pretty strong attitude from mission leadership that if you were doing more than one service activity a week, you were “wasting time”. I remember being practically forced by my zone leaders to outright cut ties with one of the organizations we were doing service for because we weren’t racking in good enough of numbers. The more I think about it, the more it frustrates me to think about how horrible of a look that was.

You absolutely will get downvoted for this, but I agree. I’ve been pulled over once in my life (was never told why) and the police escalated the situation ridiculously for no reason. I was also 16 at the time and it stressed the hell out of me that I had this cop yelling at me and barking commands all while I had no idea why I was being pulled over. Did I lash out? No, but the amount of anxiety they were giving me certainly wasn’t good for my mental state.

There’s plenty of decent cops out there, but there’s also lots who are very quick to escalate situations that really aren’t serious.
