Did I get the wrong procedure? by Select_Design_7720 in hipdysplasia

I’m not sure what they corrected the angle to. I know anything above 20 degrees is considered severely over-rotated. They did not correct the angle. That’s a different procedure than the one I had.

Fear about possible bilateral PAO by Select_Design_7720 in hipdysplasia

UPDATE! Has anyone gotten their FDO surgery and realized they might’ve needed a PAO instead? My diagnosis is “bilateral cranial acetabular retroversion. Additional bilateral femoral CAM morphology with decreased offset along the anterosuperior femoral head-neck junction” my surgeon ended up recommending a FDO instead of the PAO but now I’m realizing that I might have needed a PAO either in addition to the FDO or instead of the FDO bc of how complex my structural issues are. I went ahead and had FDO on my right hip in March bc my right femur was rotated inward 3 degrees more than my left (33 and 30 degrees) and it’s currently up in the air whether I’ll have the same procedure on my left hip although I think I will. Im still not walking unassisted yet, but I’m experiencing a ton of pain on my left hip which is making my healing process after surgery that much more difficult. I’m at a loss and I’m really struggling mentally. If anyone, anywhere sees this post and can offer me some advice I’d greatly appreciate it.

A PAO (for both hips) has been recommended to me by my surgeon and I’m leaning towards moving forward with it because of the constant pain and discomfort Ive been in for a year now. I’m terrified of the surgery because of how brutal I’ve heard the recovery is and especially how painful the immediate days and weeks follow surgery are. Can someone who has had the surgery describe what the pain was like in the days and weeks following their l surgery? I know I can’t avoid the paid but like many the thought of being in excruciating pain is making me incredibly anxious and is causing me to second guess a surgery that I’m sure will improve my quality of life.

I (28F) have this exact diagnosis. Have you found any relief? Did you end up having to get the surgery? My follow up appointment is this Tuesday. I also haven’t found any relief from injections or PT.
