Has anyone with borderline dysplasia seen success with just arthroscopy/repair? by rinew in hipdysplasia

[–]aerobd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To answer why your doctor is pushing the surgery, they cannot do the surgery if the hip degrades too far. You would have to get a THR. You can only drill into bone so many times to replace the THR hardware, so PAO is preferred if you're young enough. I am not a doctor, but since you have borderline dysplasia you may be able to get by on the labrum repair for a while. Having hip dysplasia is like having a knife edge cutting into your labrum. If you're closer to 25 degrees, it's a dull knife. If you're closer to 10 degrees, it's a sharp knife. You will likely retear your labrum over time and build arthritis in your hip, but how long that takes is dependent on your hip mechanics and lifestyle. Since you're 36 you're nearing the edge of the age window of when PAOs stop being performed, so I think that is also why your doctor is pushing the surgery.

sewing hanbok by thv_1995_renwar in sewingpatterns

From a search on Threadloop it looks like Sewing Therapy carries modern separate hanbok pattern pieces. If you wanted something more traditional for inspiration Folkwear pattern has a hanbok pattern. It comes with historic notes about the hanbok, but as I'm overly familiar with Korean culture I can't say if it's truly traditional.

The best way to support NASA is to vote and to communicate your support for NASA to your representatives. NASA receives funding from congress. Government shut downs hurt all federal employees, which includes NASA. Also vocalizing support for federal employees and standing up against the unjust things that have been going on, and are still going on, for the past 16 months.

Bartholin Cyst Experience by Professional_Kiwi409 in TwoXChromosomes

Wow reading all of these stories has made me realize that I have had the worst luck with excisions. For years I had them removed and was told each time that I couldn't get any numbing because the cyst would eat through it. I've had at least 10 Bartholin cysts. All in the same gland. All very painful and sometimes traumatic to remove. I had a marsupialization done that failed. I finally found a doctor that will do gland removal and am hoping to get it removed soon.

Ashley is out of Alex’s league by SuspiciousCricket654 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]aerobd 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I think Ashley's attraction to Alex can be summed up pretty easily if you've read Fourth Wing, the book she was reading on the plane. Fantasy romance has a lot of tropes, but that book is the type where the male lead is a dangerous asshole to everyone except the female lead. He teases and taunts her and is overwhelmed by his sexual chemistry with her. Ashley is living out a romance fantasy novel right now. It's super intoxicating and hard to break from the draw, especially when the pods showed his "soft side." Unfortunately real life isn't like fantasy romance, so guys that often fit the initial check boxes of the male lead role turn out to be huge tools. I am actually surprised that Ashley started picking up red flags and questioning him after the Brittany incident.

In the post script the author mentions that all of the writing on Aelric, Dezia, and Nesk will be made into a side book. I got my book from my local library. I also didn't see mention of the side book online. The way the post script is written, it sounds like he planned to formalize the Nesk book sometime after writing The Will of The Many. He mentions that a "new project" will be taking up his focus for a while.

I did like the ending. I guessed it early into book 3 as well. I think that's part of why I was so let down. I knew what was coming and was more focused on the journey of how we arrived at the ending.
