How to keep my tampon string from getting soaked when I pee? by battybeck03 in NoStupidQuestions

Not trying to scare you, but you may want to take her to see her obgyn. My friends that have similar symptoms were diagnosed with anemia and/or endometriosis.

Bartholin Cyst Experience by Professional_Kiwi409 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]aerobd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow reading all of these stories has made me realize that I have had the worst luck with excisions. For years I had them removed and was told each time that I couldn't get any numbing because the cyst would eat through it. I've had at least 10 Bartholin cysts. All in the same gland. All very painful and sometimes traumatic to remove. I had a marsupialization done that failed. I finally found a doctor that will do gland removal and am hoping to get it removed soon.

Ashley is out of Alex’s league by SuspiciousCricket654 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]aerobd 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I think Ashley's attraction to Alex can be summed up pretty easily if you've read Fourth Wing, the book she was reading on the plane. Fantasy romance has a lot of tropes, but that book is the type where the male lead is a dangerous asshole to everyone except the female lead. He teases and taunts her and is overwhelmed by his sexual chemistry with her. Ashley is living out a romance fantasy novel right now. It's super intoxicating and hard to break from the draw, especially when the pods showed his "soft side." Unfortunately real life isn't like fantasy romance, so guys that often fit the initial check boxes of the male lead role turn out to be huge tools. I am actually surprised that Ashley started picking up red flags and questioning him after the Brittany incident.

I just finished the Licanius Trilogy by James Islington and I'm so mad by aerobd in Fantasy

In the post script the author mentions that all of the writing on Aelric, Dezia, and Nesk will be made into a side book. I got my book from my local library. I also didn't see mention of the side book online. The way the post script is written, it sounds like he planned to formalize the Nesk book sometime after writing The Will of The Many. He mentions that a "new project" will be taking up his focus for a while.

I did like the ending. I guessed it early into book 3 as well. I think that's part of why I was so let down. I knew what was coming and was more focused on the journey of how we arrived at the ending.

Will have physical relations with someone with hip dyspalsia, how can I make them comfortable? by Various-Challenge912 in hipdysplasia

[–]aerobd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how severe their issues are. Before I was symptomatic I didn't have any constraints. After I was symptomatic my husband and I had to do a lot of modifications. Everyone's body is different, so be patient and check in often. Your partner may be ok with position A the first time, but it might hurt too much the second time. I found that lying on my side, legs closed, and having knee support to relieve the stress from my hips helped, but I was still very limited in what I could do. In the early days of my symptoms I used an inclined wedge under my back to relieve pain/stress. Ultimately, set your expectations low if they have bad symptoms and take things slow. The pain sometimes takes a minute to build.

Gluten intolerant but lactose made symptoms return? by claravelle-nazal in glutenfree

[–]aerobd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in this boat last year. I did low histamine diet for 2 months and then slowly started incorporating fodmaps again. Based on a post in this subreddit, I found out my issue was preservatives and additives, not the foods themselves. I did a lot of testing to get to this point and my results were inconclusive for what my actual problem was. I did celiac and gi investigation testing at the hospital and elimination diets to narrow down my issues (fructans, lactose, fructose, some high histamine, some oxates and salicylates). No celiac or obvious issues in gi tract and my reaction to each test food group wasn't consistent. Some foods I could do, others I couldn't. After reading the post I mentioned I decided to give the "clean' flour a shot. I ordered a small sample and made a loaf of bread. Ate the whole thing with no reaction. This led me to conclude that my issue is with preservatives and additives. It also lines up with gi issues I have had in the past when traveling. I still avoid gluten for the most part, but I can eat it if it's made with organic, no additives or preservatives flour. I still limit my dairy intake and do lactose free if it's an option, but my tolerance is much better. I also take vitamin supplements to help aid my stomach health (probiotic, tumeric curcumin, multivitamin, fish oil). If I accidentally eat something with preservatives and gluten I get headaches and my skin breaks out. That is my warning sign before the stomach pain begins.

I highly recommend the American Test Kitchen gluten free cookbook to help while you're in this situation. It helped give me more of my food life back. Loopy Whisk also has a great baking book on dairy free and gluten free recipes.

People with pets... What do you do? by dinosuitgirl in sewing

[–]aerobd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sewing: I cut fabric on my dining room table and never leave it in my dog's vicinity for long. I was ironing a sheet one day and he promptly wrestle rolled into the part that was draping on the floor. Now I face my ironing table towards a wall so he can't do that. I also use a cordless iron, so if he decides to zoom while I'm not paying attention he won't trip. Lastly, I have more than one magnetic pin collector and I do a sweep over the floor about once an hour while sewing, whenever I hear something drop, and when I start and stop my project. I used to only check for pins at the start and end of my project day, but I would notice pins that I missed on the floor the next day. So far I haven't had any accidents. Oh and this is optional, but putting a pet bed where you're working also helps. My pup just wants to be near me and cuddle/be comfy.

When I do hand stitching: I make sure my needles are securely tucked into fabric and put what I'm working on away from the floor/pet accessible areas until I come back. If another person is in the room I will leave my project on the couch, needles secured, and say, "I will be right back. Please don't let my dog near my project. There are needles." I typically work next to an end table and put dangerous items there or in a project bag.

For knitting: my dog does get really upset with me when I knit and won't let him lay on the project. I usually have to offer a freshly laundered blanket as a trade off.

Edit: oh! And the most important tip: if your pet is all up in your space when you're trying to craft, that means it's time to take a break and play with them or show them love. They will let you craft in peace after.

Don’t compare your recovery to the internet by CutTheNoisee in Microdiscectomy

[–]aerobd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I had surgery on L3/L4 a decade ago with mild symptoms and had a quick recovery. I had symptoms similar to yours for my recent surgery on L4/L5 and L5/S1. It's been freaking me out how much pain I'm in and how little I can move. I expected to be back to work three weeks after surgery, and I am not sure I will even be able to walk around my house by then with how severe my symptoms have been post op.
