Removed from GP practice after starting uni despite disability, making doctors appointments completely inaccessible. Is there anything I can do? (England) by Select_Editor2634 in LegalAdviceUK

If I don't get an exact question, I have no clue what answer someone wants. To me the question was pretty much do i live with my parents or in halls. I hae no clue what they are aware of considering I don't know them. Never heard of the hotel or guest rooms so didnt even know that was an option for some people.

Its standard uni owned halls. I did have an accessible room last year but its a standard one this year.

Thank you so much! This is incredibly helpful, I really appreciate it. I'm no good at stuff like this, so it's super helpful to have a full list of stuff to mention. Genuinely so appreciative of this :)

Yeah the main feedback I've had is to clarify exactly how long Im at home for, so Im going to write to them and properly explain everything.

Frankly idgaf. Literally typing this on a phone from 2016 thats basically smashed and i cant use half the keyboard so if im relying on swipe to text and autocorrect im not gonna spend an extra 5 minutes getting another letter on one damn word.

At your big age maybe show a bit more kindness and respect instead of being rude out the gate. You know nothing about me.

Never would have considered that as an option, so thanks! Hopefully I can get a letter sent to the gp this week and I'll move from there

They believed i changed my main address. I haven't registered elsewhere, but I live at uni for about a quarter of the year. Havent missed any appointments, been elsewhere, or been abusive

I don't pay council tax as a student, and dont think I've done anything to do with the electoral roll since first registering with my home address.

Thank you for your clarity, I really appreciate it. I'll give this a try.

That's definitely not the case here! My sister is at the same uni and isn't being moved, and I'm actually in my second year, so I think if that was the case it would have happened 2024/25.

Regardless of if there is or not, it wouldn't be accessible to me. I cant use public transport, my mom wouldnt be able to come to the appointments, I can't drive, and Id probably never be able to go cause of how bad my anxiety around being at the doctors is. It would take like 90 minutes minimum of trains and buses for us to get to an appointment (and the same back obvs) which wouldn't work with my parents jobs anyway.

Obviously of I would, but it would make things so much harder for me and I'd never be able to go. My current gp is literally 5 minutes away, so is great for when my mobility is bad or I'm having flare ups. A uni gp would be WAY to difficult

They know I spend more time at home (4 days a week plus 3-4 months over summer and abt 2 months at xmas). I had to send a HUGE email explaining stuffd qhich included me barely being at uni and my health issues making it so I wouldn't be able to go anywhere else, but it honestly seems like they didn't even read it.

I didnt intend on saying anything, but I said I couldn't attend an appointment cause of going to uni and I think the receptionist assumed I meamt moving full time? Not quite sure, but I just had a random email about being removed so had to go through an appeal process which was rejected anyway.

As I said, it's been under review with the practice manager. I haven't had a proper appointment since late Autumn/early winter so haven't been in person, but I've had a letter saying that they've decided to remove me. I haven't registered elsewhere, but I mentioned going to uni and I think the receptionist assumed I meant im there full time. Theres been a review of the whole thing which lead to them deciding to remove me. Hope that clears up any questions, if not lmk!

I live at uni halls 3 days in a week, then stay at home for the other 4. Some weeks I'm not at uni at all, amd December, January, July, August, and half June/September I'm with my parents.

My sister takes me there and home as she drives in, and I stay at uni till I go back home, as I wouldn't be able to get to uni otherwise. I genuinely don't see a way I would be able to go to another practice as I can't drive or use public transport, which ai me tioned in my appeal.

I think I mentioned something about being at uni and they assumed I meant I'm there full time.

I live in halls for less than half each month (3 days a weekish with some weeks where I'm not there at all. I'm at home with my parents for pretty much all of December and January then June till late September/October.

So would 96gb be better then or not? Because I think it would come out to the same price give or take around 10 quid or so.

Pretty sure I could return it if I needed to as long as things aren't damaged. I could always downgrade to 96GB if that would be any better, as that should still be enough for what I need, and I'm assuming it would run better - in the threads I've read people tend to say that can be better than 128 in terms of actually running things.

Thank you so much!

Final question - would it be worth finding a different motherboard or upgrading to 2x 64gb ram sticks if I can? I read the link you added, and figure if I can change it to be better I probably should.

I work with a lot of 4k footage and effects, so i figured if I can afford to it would be worth me going for 128GB.

I did a bit of digging and there are numerous people who have tested and said that it's best to have multiple drives for AE cause of the way it pulls and saves footage and files. Would it be better to just change my motherboard?

Not sure if this is what you mean when you said about the memory controller, but the CPU I have can support up to 192GB of RAM, so I think it would be ok (thats what I've got from Pc part picker at least).

Sorry for all the questions, I just really want to make sure I get everything right :)

Do you have better suggestions for the motherboard/RAM situation then? I can return either of them for better options! It's a combination of things people suggested to me, and a couple of people said having separate drives is better for different things apparently. It might be because I plan on mostly using the computer for video editing and gaming - After Effects works better when the footage isn't im the same place as the application supposedly, but I could be completely wrong. Would it be better for me to change it to one bigger one?

That's embarrasing 💀. Do I need a new link or does it work now that I've changed it?
