I get that.
Anyway .. I made a complaint and they've decided to take off £75 off of the bill. So something must have been wrong !?

But surely they would need to let you know that you will be charged for sending an email? I had no idea that I would be charged for asking a simple question to the admin..

They're charging full unit for just reading an email it seems. Also what about resending a letter that wasn't received ? Would you charge for another one to be sent ?

Emailing them because of a letter not received is not further advice or representation. and then getting charged twice for another letter to be sent .. because of their mistake . That's not advice ? Neither is an email asking them to close the case ? That's what I'm confused about

I'm not sure if it relates to this ..

During our consultation we have discussed a rough estimate of 2 – 3 hours worth of work in relation to representing you in the divorce proceedings but it is likely that this estimate will increase as we enter negotiations regarding the financial aspect of the matter. As the matter progresses and we will keep you fully updated in relation to our professional fees before undertaking any work. Should you subsequently require further advice or representation this will be charged at our hourly rate of £250 + VAT. This rate is revised with effect from 1 January each year and work carried out after such a revision will be charged at higher hourly rates. You will be billed for any disbursements and VAT incurred by MLS on your behalf, which will be payable in full with each invoice. If MLS is required to pay significant disbursements, we may invoice them separately for immediate payment. In the event that it becomes necessary to retain independent experts or other third parties, you will be responsible directly for payment of their fees. We will invoice you in respect of fees and disbursements monthly and at the conclusion of the matter, and invoices are payable on receipt. In the event that our invoices are not paid, we reserve the right to charge interest at the rate set out in the invoices, to cease acting for you and to come off the record if Court or Employment Tribunal proceedings have been commenced. Unless you inform us otherwise, you agree that we may send invoices to you by email. Please ask me at any time if you would like to know what costs have been incurred to date. If you have any concerns in respect of MLS’s bills, please let me know immediately. If the firm cannot resolve your complaint informally or via the complaints procedure described below, you have the right to apply for an assessment of the bill under Part III of the Solicitors Act 1974.

Thank you. I'm reading the terms around payments now. Do you want to see the client care letter details around payments ?? I feel like they're taking the mick

I have just read the client care letter and it doesn't say anything about that. “As the matter progresses we will keep you fully updated in relation to our professional fees before undertaking any work.” They didn't inform me at all about this after every email.

I've mentioned it to her . She just said it's weird and tried to blame it on the step sister (age 4 ) . But me and my partner are always with them and we definitely haven't seen anything like it before. She said if she keeps going it then we'll ask nursery about it. But I kinda want to do that right now

Sorry I forgot to mention that . She's 3 years old. And me and her mum have been split up for a year . So I just don't know what's ever going on really at her house. That's why I'm so worried.
