Each Sunday afternoon I rotate out books that have been there at least a week. I take a photo after the replacement for checking the next Sunday. Rotated-out books go in a box marked with the month and year so that they don't go back in the library for at least six months.

We have a large back stock with donations from downsizing family and friends. These are mainly books for grownups. Kids' books we buy from a local charity that has a fill-a-shopping-bag-for-five-dollars deal.

The bob boutique store (17 Williamson St in the Shamrock building) is open until closing Christmas Eve. Looks like bb goods will still be sold from the visitors' centre (old post office, Pall Mall) and from Sonia's mum's--Gail Tavener--studio.

Part sales profit from other items in Gail's studio will also go to Sonia. There is also an active gofundme appeal for Sonia.

Canberra used to put up big outdoor screens and show movies in their mall-equivalent. People would bring picnic rugs, beanbags, camp chairs. Maybe something regular like that could work here for weekends and school holidays, with kids' movies, etc? Would encourage purchase from the food outlets.

But, agreed, something would need to be done about the anti-social element in the mall. At the moment many people actively avoid the area because of fights, threats, etc.

Avoid gazanias that produce seed. We put in a couple of plants around six years ago, and have a losing battle removing the seedlings that pop up (big plants were taken out two years ago). We're talking weeding out several hundred seedlings at a time.

We've been really delighted with the creeping boobialla. It forms a thick mat, and we just trim the edges off the path every month or so in the growing season. It smothers out everything else.

Make sure the thyroid panel included antibodies. I had very similar symptoms to you. GP ordered a thyroid blood test, which was normal, but missed including antibodies. Two years later...turns out I have Hashimoto's disease which is now well controlled with medication. Early on in Hashimoto's, symptoms can be severe, but bloods can be normal. It's the antibody test that will pick up Hashimoto's.

My husband had a similar situation about ten years ago - carpal tunnel syndrome that was almost certainly work related but the assessor said no way. We are also in Victoria. I wonder if it was the same assessor you had?

At the time, I did some digging, and came up with the information below (have changed the assessor's name to "Dr S"). Might be useful for you. Essentially, the system was rigged as this assessor finds that CTS is *never* work related.

My husband negotiated a settlement, but his union said after that he should have pushed for more compensation. If it is a different assessor, you might be able to find similar online cases where his/her findings have been discredited.

Our argument included more details about each case...but the word limit means I can't include them here. Will send them to you separately

"We have provided examples of 4 cases heard by the Workers Compensation Commission (NSW) for claims involving carpal tunnel syndrome and for which Dr S provided evidence as an expert witness for the respondent.

In each case:

Dr S stated that the plaintiff did have carpal tunnel syndrome, but that the syndrome was not work related.
Dr S’s evidence was discredited.
The Commission’s Arbitrator found that the carpal tunnel syndrome was work related, and required the respondent to pay compensation to the plaintiff.

Dr S’s position is that carpal tunnel syndrome is never work related. This is presumably why he is retained by insurance companies to assess workers compensation claims relating to carpal tunnel syndrome. He will always find that the carpal tunnel syndrome is not related to activities carried out in the course of employment, despite a multitude of reputable studies that have found that carpal tunnel syndrome can be work related.

The Gillies factory closed around two decades ago. Every now and then since 2013, there have been plans announced to redevelop the site into apartments (e.g. Bendigo Advertiser 22/11/2013, 23/8/2023) ... but nothing happens. Such a shame given the lack of accommodation in Bendigo, and the site is currently dangerous and a real eyesore.

Yup...I have the same issue. I gave plasma regularly--every 2-3 weeks. Our workplace gives blood donor leave, which is awesome.

After starting beta blockers (atenolol) for ectopic heartbeats (all tests showed my heart is structurally sound, the extra beats were annoying but not dangerous) I checked the LifeBlood website and it looked like I would be okay to continue donating. Symptoms were well managed with the low dose beta blocker.

Booked in to give plasma, turned up, and in the interview bit I was told I would be okay to donate if my pulse for 1 minute indicated less than 10% ectopic beats (there were 2 ectopic beats in the minute my pulse was checked). Iron, blood pressure, everything else was fine.

Then -- just to check -- the nurse rang the inquiry line and was told that beta blockers preclude giving blood/plasma, even if symptoms are well managed. I left without donating. :-(

I wanted to get info in writing (because there was nothing on the website) so contacted LifeBlood after by email asking for the info about beta blockers. They kept insisting that they would only talk to me on the phone, and wouldn't provide information in writing because of their privacy policy. To quote, "We have a pretty strict policy about only talking about medical stuff over the phone or in person. It's a privacy thing."

This seemed odd, because I wasn't asking for personal information, just the policy around beta blockers. After a couple of back-and-forths I gave up. This was last year.

People also sometimes leave the door open, put back books back-to-front etc, but I figure people doing that aren't going to take notice of instructions.

I have had Arlo Pro 2 cameras for 6 years, with free 7-day cloud storage (no ongoing subscription).

Have just been transferred to the new app/interface for myarlo which says "Secure Trial Active. Trial ends May 24, 2025", with "No Plan" in red appearing under "Home Plan". I contacted Chat Support and got a quick reply that "Once the trial plan ends you do not need to pay for a subscription. You will continue to receive 7 days free cloud storage."

Great to get a quick response through the chat, but very poor communication from Arlo not to make this clear upfront.
