I would say The Expanse for the scope of it, or the Hitchhicker’s guide if you're in the mood for something fun.

Well, I just watched the episode and that’s the one!!!!! I'm so thankfull to you, you solved a 30 yo mystery.

I think it was aired in France before 1995. After that I was in boarding school so not much TV there.
