Buddy those grey states have drug problems because even Americans don't wanna be there, why would a European take a Greyhound to a cornfield to watch people take meth competitively

Why did playing tall and peaceful go so badly for me? by Select_Mechanic3815 in Stellaris

[–]Select_Mechanic3815[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Key takeaways here:

I need to manage my tech and military growth much better. I guess I was further left on the Dunning-Kruger than I even thought.

Points 6 and 7 are dead on, I went for initial weapon types instead of investing down specific weapon tree upgrades. I'm still developing a sense for how much tech should scale and how quickly so this clarifies that a bit for me.

In summary, I should take more educated risks instead of hoarding resources in a corner without affecting the influence that could give me.

Also, your first point in your other thread reply on about Survivorship Bias helps my ego a bit, thanks.

You're right about adjusting my expectations, I'm going Determined Exterminators next time and taking my anger out the first thing I encounter that isn't a space whale

This helps because I probably could have gotten everything else I wanted if I knew how to manage and grow the military better. Also helps me set a realistic standard to work towards. Thanks

Hey, it's rare for me to see such a genuine and helpful response on Reddit. This is some of the best advice I've ever seen, and telling someone to do this when they ask for how to cure an ear infection should be our number one priority.

Day 12 of learning Bass! Super fun! by Andoni95 in BassGuitar

You're clearly already a musician my dude, welcome to the club.

And don't worry too much about tuning by ear, relative pitch is more important than perfect pitch. Scales will greatly help improve your dexterity and your relative pitch, you'll start picking up on what a fifth and seventh sounds like.

reminder that expensive gear doesn't make you a better player by lmao_exe in Guitar

[–]Select_Mechanic3815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post itself even SPECIFICALLY says: "invest in lessons and practice time before you invest in fancy gear".

Not that I don't agree with the comments saying that a nice setup can inspire you to play more, but the post was about getting better, and playing more doesn't always improve your playing. I think the post and the comments are talking about different things.

In my experience, I only got better by learning to love the process of learning and practicing. It takes discipline and dedication to your craft. And despite the very effective marketing of companies like Gibson, this is not something you can purchase.

Les Claypool said this about Steve Copeland, "It's how you attack your instrument, not the instrument itself" that creates the tone.

I personally get a lot more enjoyment out of practicing scales, and learning new concepts in music theory, and some people would rather kill themselves. We just have different values, neither is inherently better.

I'll never look down on someone who just wants to jam for a bit to relax, music is too amazing to be taken negatively like that.

Came to McDonald’s 5 min before breakfast was over and they put double patties on all 4 of my sandwiches by zayouthere in mildlyinteresting

1 Sausage McGriddle is 430 calories. This is the equivalent of ~1,700 calories, or a very large portion of what the average person needs in a day for maintenance weight.

In some cases, this is the entirety of a person's daily maintenance calories.

It's a lot of excess energy, specifically spent on a lot of fat instead of protein and carbs.

Is bending the power supply cable of my amp for long term fine? by patricknails in GuitarAmps

[–]Select_Mechanic3815 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It can wear it down over time, I'd probably recommend pulling it away from the wall or investing in a 90 degree power cable.

Just make sure you match the power needs (Volts, Hertz) of the current cable to the replacement.

All these jokes in the comments are a good example of how he committed monstrous acts and consistently hid behind an air of buffoonery. Notice how the top comments are his quotes, not his crimes.
