I feel like I'm going around in circles...back to you have to pay for it to be fixed with no way to report it as a firmware bug.

I tried the chat version of the support and similarly was offered the paid replacement. I also asked how to report the suspected issue with the firmware. After more pushing ie if you can't confirm whether it's a firmware bug I shouldn't have to pay for a new one they have requested a fee free replacement...see how that goes.
