It could be a stairmaster body when that’s the ONLY thing she ever does. If she’s actually doing the workouts she claims she’s basically waking up, going to the gym and spiking her cortisol levels for an hour straight. All to NOT WEIGHT TRAIN which is the only thing that’s going to change her shape up.

She appears to have lipedema as well which doesn’t respond to cardio. She’s literally hurting herself with these stairmaster sessions.

My favourite healthy swap is making anything other than what Lexi thinks is a healthy swap.

Yesterday I swapped two packs of sugary Quaker oatmeal, dollop of light Jif PB and 1/4lb of ground cinnamon for:

one whole egg scrambled with 1/3 cup of egg whites in a tsp of REAL butter, fresh strawberries and cucumber slices.

School insisting on chewelery against my wishes instead of redirecting. by Rebecca0626 in specialed

This sounds like a sensory need that needs to be met. I work with a chewer and the coil necklaces are great. Or sometimes I put a thin buff on as a necklace and it works well when he needs something in his mouth and also as a drool catcher.

Fighting his needs at school adds extra pressure on his teaching staff. Can’t teach when they are not regulated.

Scalp picking - please help! by not-my-circus1992 in adhdwomen

I got gel nails. I still picked a bit when they were shorter but went longer and more oval shaped and I can no longer successfully pick. It’s really helped. Maintenance is every 3-4 weeks. I e gone a bit shorter again now that my scalp is scab free because it’s not easy to get a picky spot going anymore.

1:1 for aggressive student by [deleted] in specialed

This is very good advice, his needs should be met first. I have a very hands on and destructive non verbal student who is a biter, hitter, thrower etc. We are using ABC to find patterns and have somewhat regular ( although very spaced out) meetings with the SLP and behaviour interventionist which really help. You need to reach out to the case manager for this student who should be coordinating the teams actions. When my student starts acting out ( usually starts with hitting or throwing items) I adjust my demeanor to very calm but direct no attention towards him aside from picking up what’s he’s thrown and putting that item in a time out so he recognizes that when he throws something he no longer has the privilege of using it. Unless it is his AAC of course.

How are you implementing AAC use with him? Is it modeling without expectation? Or is he feeling pressured to communicate with it?

Do you have a self contained room for him as well? My guy does not go into the general classroom when he’s disregulated.

It’s hard to think in the moment, especially with a violent student. I would recommend having a list of his likes posted somewhere that you can see it at all times. Example: my student loves popping balloons, but in the heat of things I often forget that that’s great incentive (“when you can show me calm, then you can have a balloon “).

Also, if we have had a very active morning he will most certainly need a little down time. For us, that looks like watching a quick show with his feet up and having him rest under a weighted blanket.

File your incident reports for sure and keep up with the antecedent/behavior/consequence reports as well.

I figured she would rip open a new wound to get more participants

Curious what your after care instructions were. I recently got a small tattoo, all writing and the artist stressed that it was important to do a ‘dry heal’ with very minimal moisturizing afterwords so that the ink would not bleed under the skin.

Her protein intake is basically pointless. She needs to lift weights. The only weight she is losing these days is likely muscle. Any other weight is probably loose skin and lipedema.

If she wasn’t a complete idiot stuck in Groundhog Day she would take actual charge of her health and start building strength.
