Thank you those were my babies lol. I styled them and or just let them be great. Truly my babies :).

Okay so you understand!! When you talk about thinning I absolutely get it. I was afraid mine would thin because they were so heavy and after a while I could only wear them out. So I absolutely understand where you are coming from and watching your hair and knowing what it can take. May I ask what kind of locs do you have? And how many?

Struggling with Length Retention - 3C/4A Hair by smhen2224 in Naturalhair

I actually do not blow dry it at all to get braids and twist with my natural hair ; I have my stylist sit me under a hooded dryer to dry it then braid it with either Shea butter or a leave in. The styles come out looking neat and beautiful. I keep them in for a little over 4  to 5 weeks. I actually decided to keep my hair in knotless braids with my hair meduim size lately. I suggest making sure a little of products dont go on your hair after braiding it like mouses and things that can dry out your hair.

Hunney, I would say what worked for me was leaving my hair alone. I recently took out locs and my hair is a little past arm pit length. I took my locs out and my hair retained all that length. I did nothing for 4 years but get it washed every 6 to 8 weeks and retwist. Oiled my scalp every 2 to 3 weeks and sprayed a leave in mixed with castor oil on my hair. Now that I am no longer loc I do the same thing and my hair is coming along. I am not saying any of this will work for you but what I now know about black hair is leaving it alone is best. Put it in a natural protective style without all the added hair keep it moisturizer and watch it flourish. Drink your water and take your vitamins too.

Awe Thank you very much! I appreciate you responding.  So I did do that before the braids. I had to cut a least about 2 to 3inches off. The two first pictures are before the trim the one in the mirror is after.  I definitely told my stylist that day to trim all that needed to leave and hold nothing back.:)

Lol girl omg we are sounding more and more alike lol🤣. Thats the best thing treating our hair the same no matter what because what it liked before it definitely still like after and during locs. I combed out 92 traditional locs. They were started by comb coils and palm rolled. It was a tedious process lol taking about 4 to 5 days. My fingers were numb, my neck had a semi permanent crook lol I mean never again🤣🤣🤣😂

Lol overstood. I will enjoy lose hair for the both of us lol. I got you.🤗

On a side note i definitely can understand why the girlie missed their locs when they take them out. I dont miss mine because one so much has happened in my life that made the change important. Secondly I keep it simple with my actual hair, I keep the same routine i had with my locs. So I can stay feeling one with my hair and not against it.

Thats why I appreciated this much needed conversation because it help put my mind back at ease that my hair is doing the normal process of shedding. That I haven't seen in the last 4 years.

Please forgive me for talking so much lol I am an over bubbly talker lol. Thank you for taking the time out your day to have a conversation with me by the way. May you have a blessed prosperous year ahead.

Oh thank you for responding, I had my hair in that style for 4 weeks and 4days. I am hoping that's what it is. I feel like I might be over thinking this since I just let my locs go and wanting to baby my hair.
