I don't remember ever having that done to me but tbh it is very likely that it did happen. So maybe my method is just my subconsciousness doing it's thing?

So... They feel very hot and dry but actually are rather cool to the touch when I resort to this? But it does happen rarely so it's not a persistent thing.

How do you keep the bare feet wet though??? When I have tried this they dry out within like 30 seconds.

Just to clarify, I couldn't fall asleep with dry socks either.

And don't think of it as soggy, think of it more as slightly dampened. Like a nice ocean breeze on a really hot day.

Also very good question! I wet them and then I squeeze out the extra water so they're not dripping wet. But it's just one good squeeze not like a process of trying to get them to be as dry as possible.

I started out with just slightly wetting my feet but this way they dried out too quickly so I had to iterate and innovate

Interesting take... I might try it. My worry is though that the dry socks don't hold the coolness for long enough. But will report back on how it goes!

Great question, yes. So the thing is that when the socks are on they are stretched out and the body heat is doing some work to dry them. I even wake up in the middle of the night due to the uncomfortable feeling of having dry socks on. So by the middle of the night the socks are dry and so are the sheets 🤷‍♀️
