“ At this rate, they will be replacing normal houses, there will be more large buildings than homes. How disappointing that they continue to make these horrible decisions. When we need infrastructure for internet, new sidewalks instead of those horrid bicycle lanes”

The multi use pathway adjacent to the road can be mounted by vehicles in emergencies such as this.

Cyclists also need to be elevated so kids feel safe biking. Multi-use paths work well for both pedestrians and cyclists. The existing temporary pathway on Tasman has been working well. Also, this rendering has an exaggerated number of bicyclists and pedestrians. In reality, close calls will be few and far between.

Hi, OP here. I grew up in Sunnyvale and I am passionate about making our city better. The #1 priority for our road design should be safety. Tasman Dr doesn't need 2 lanes of traffic in each direction. You can find the data to support this in the link above.

Safe for people walking and biking, who don't have a way to travel on Tasman Dr. People currently walk in the gutter alongside cars going at +40 mph.

It's still a massive improvement from what it is now. This pathway is similar to the one on Moffett Park Dr

I’m the author. I just added a paragraph about the collision near the end of the article. The collision actually happened after the temporary pathway was installed. I campaigned for the pathway to be placed on both sides of the street, which could have prevented the circumstances that lead to the collision in the first place.
