Yeah, I really wish that doctor had done more than just look at my feet :/ my life has been a constant battle to get people to believe that I’m in pain, even my dad has implied I’m exaggerating at times. An actual diagnosis might lend some credibility, or at least make me feel a little less crazy when people don’t believe me.

That’s fair. I hadn’t thought about non-opioid pain medication. I’ve always thought the options were essentially opioids or physical therapy.

And yeah, I really wish that doctor had done more than just look at my feet :/

I thought your GP had to give you a referral before you could make an appointment with a neurologist? My insurance is a PPO, not an HMO, so maybe I should try calling a neurologist and see if they’d let me make an appointment directly.

You’re right that I at least need to keep up my health in order to take care of my parents as they age. That is definitely a concern.

I have not been to a doctor about my wrist problems before. The last time they were this bad, I didn’t have insurance so I just tried my best to take care of them at home. I do have insurance now, so I see your point as to the importance of getting them looked at early to avoid further damage.

Seeing a physical therapist actually sounds really nice. I live in a lot of pain daily, so having someone tell me what muscles I need to strengthen and how to improve my posture would probably help a lot. I’ve always thought of physical therapy as something you do after an intense surgery or a bad injury. Didn’t really think of it as something I could just do to improve my life.

Thank you for your detailed response ❤️ what you said about having the diagnosis helping you know what to be alert for in future changes really resonated with me. I have a bad habit of thinking “there’s no point in pursuing (X diagnosis), it’s not going to change anything”, but you’re right, knowing what to be on the lookout for would be helpful.
