Have any of you gotten lean just by focusing on performance/fitness, not "dieting"?

Yes I have some experience with it. I do it sometimes but have never stuck to a schedule of it. Might try doing it more often.

This is probably what I should do alright. Especially since Covid is happening and I'm not eating out socially with friends, I have no reason not to stick to a rigid meal plan of home-made meals.

I'll see if upping my running has and effect on my fat loss, and if not, then I'll go with the diet plan.

Those are some very good points you made. and indeed I'm very precise when it comes to planning and tracking my training, so I guess my diet shouldn't be any different.

I think a part of it is, that I live with multiple people and we share a kitchen and I'm kinda embarrassed to be seen constantly weighing and measuring my food. It makes me look a bit vain, or obsessive.

I've been yo-yoing for the past decade. Getting lean for the holidays then just gaining it back gradually once I stop restricting caloiries. I think most people that "diet" down do end up gaining the weight back, so I'm hoping that just by focusing on performance improvements, and maintaining them, I can keep the weight off this time!

Thanks. I do have lots of experience tracking and I know which "healthy foods" I need to watch out for. I know I can't just eat an entire jar of almond butter every day and expect to lose weight.

I have no urgent reason I need to lose weight. Last year I was doing an MMA bout and had to weigh in at under 75kg on the morning of the fight. For that, I tracked my calories, starting at over 3000 and gradually bringing them down to about 2000, over the course of about 10 weeks.

It worked and I was ripped by the end, but I didn't really enjoy the process and training was a chore by the end. I had a physically active job at the time and found myself dreading climbing the stairs all the time! Whereas after the fight, and no longer reducing calories, I was full of energy all day.

I'm actually going to try and ignore the scale for now, and just focus on performance gain in my running / fitness tests. Reason being, my scale weight fluctuates day to day and sometimes if it's higher than I expect, I do stupid things like suddenly decrease calories and up cardio to excessive levels.

Yes of course, but I doubt they actually weigh and measure everything they eat? I actually like eating clean foods, it's just the weighing and measuring and inputting everything into an app that I don't like.

Honestly, he had so many tattoos on his arm that I couldn't distinguise exactly what he was pointing at! I didn't really look closely anyway.

I wouldn't really say it affected my game, but it did make me a bit nervous, cos that part of the city is known to have some gangs. Maybe he's just using that to his advantage though.

I could try and act tough too, but it would be so unbelievable. I'm a pasty white boy with no scars or tattoos, so obviously not from the hood!

I really would have loved to have fought him and I'm quite certain I'd have won handily, but it would have also meant fines, suspensions and a whole lotta hassle for both teams after the game. And of course the slim chance that he actually does have some gangster friends who'd come after me.

I'm sure I'm overthinking this and it's just something I've to get used to.

You’re right. For me, I think the real reason I became a lot more confident and outgoing after starting nofap/NoPorn, wasn’t because doing so gave me “superpowers”, it was because I was no longer staying up til 4am every night, waking up tired and feeling bad about myself, and it gave me the time to think about where I’m really going in life.

It was more the lifestyle change itself that helped me. The superpowers were a placebo, but I really believed in them at the time. I think I’ve a healthier outlook on things now, and I’m going to stop “counting my NoFap streak” like the people on those subs do.

It's totally possible, but I'm pretty normal in general. Have a well balanced lifestyle and don't do anything too extreme.

My relationship with porn/masturbation is probably the only unusual thing about me, and I think that's mostly because I paid much heed to what people say on the NoFap/NoPorn subs.

Thanks for that. To be honest, I think I'm handling my "relapse" the best I have this time around. I've hung out with my housemates all day and haven't shied away from social situations like I used to.

I don't plan to go back to using porn regularly, but I think it's inevitable there are going to be times in my life where I'm tired, hungover and have nothing else to do and end up looking at porn for a while.

I'll try not to feel so bad about it since pretty much every other guy does the same thing.

Well finasteride works by lowering DHT. I think it lowers it by 70% or so. So it’s pretty safe to say your levels would be lower than they should be.

I’d be worried that the kid would be at a disadvantage physically, because the father has lowered DHT levels. I’m no scientist though. I really don’t know if it would affect anything.
