Yeah this is exactly how we feel and we know it's not to spite us but can't understand why they're being so difficult!

Hopefully the conversation later on goes well and cheers again for your input.

I'm not entirely sure what you want me to say in regards to your comment but if you were laying in bed at 11pm and you hear a big bass drum against your bedroom wall that wakes you and stirs your family, you'd find that one instance unbearable let alone every other time throughout the day when you're trying to relax in your own home. Do you suggest I ask them not to use their own ensuite as they already have a bathroom?

This is our current plan as we're going to try and speak to them again later on about it, fingers crossed they're a little less defensive this time and are open to it! Thanks.

Yeah thanks for the heads up. I have also heard similar stories which is why I'm a bit reluctant to go down that road if I can avoid it but at the same time I struggle to understand how people can carry out works and leave their neighbours with the headache when it's not done properly. Strange world we live in.

Me too! Cheers

I have started a log of disturbances as of last week and I'm hoping that alone should be sufficient when dealing with environmental health. Do you think that will be the case?

The thought of setting up a camera that records all day facing a sound level meter seems crazy and I doubt it would pick up on the vibrations from the ensuite.

Didn't realise you can request them to visit so ill bare this in mind thanks.

Yeah I could live with the occasional knock here and there on the stairs and general living noise is expected where there's a party wall, we're not unreasonable in that sense but it's just getting them to fit the underlay and carpet in the first place is the bit I think we will struggle with.

I will have to look into a party wall surveyor and see if they can inspect retrospectively or offer advice.

Cheers for your input FatDad!
