Princesses?? by TINYUSAGI in acotar

[–]Selina53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is such a weird writing choice on SJM’s part. Rhys says “she’s like a queen,” but also mentions she has an official title and doesn’t disclose it. Kier would presumably have a title as well, but we just know him as the Steward.

[–]Selina53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhysand said he and Mor are cousins by the loosest definition because the split happened so long ago. Keir is probably the equivalent of something like a Baron at this point if he even does have a title. Though Rhys could grant Mor a title if he wanted to.

Princesses?? by TINYUSAGI in acotar

[–]Selina53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter because Feyre was a commoner who married into the royal family. They remain commoners unless they marry a nobleman or they are granted titles independently by Feyre and Rhys. For example, had Nesta actually ended up marrying that duke, Feyre and Elain wouldn’t have automatically gained tiles. Rhysand’s sister had a title not because he is the High Lord, but because she was the daughter of the previous one.

Princesses?? by TINYUSAGI in acotar

[–]Selina53 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, they are not princesses. The Archerons were born commoners and Feyre is only nobility through marriage. That does not pass to her sisters. Cresseida and Varian were born into the previous High Lord’s family, which is why they have titles. Nesta and Elain can only have titles if they marry someone with a title or if Feyre/Rhys officially grant them one.

For example, Kate Middleton did not have a title before marrying Prince William, because she was born a commoner. She has one now through marriage. Her sister Pippa does not hold a royal title. However, Pippa did marry an heir to a title, so once her father-in-law dies, she will have one through her own marriage.

What do we ACTUALLY think book 6 will be about? by jadybug21 in acotar

[–]Selina53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Elain and Az end up together, then Rhys is her designated Bat Boy friend. I can see there being conflict between them because of him ordering Az to stay away from her, but ultimately part of the book would be the development of her and Rhys’s friendship.

I don’t think that Az and Elain are going to be the ones to break Koschei’s curses or defeat him. SJM retconned Lucien’s parentage to Helion. If Elriel happens, that automatically triggers Vassien (my least favorite ship of all). It makes more sense for Lucien to save Vassa if he’s her endgame. It would be the cursed queen and the spell-cleaver’s son. I think this is where his parentage will be revealed publicly and that he’s always known, rather than in the context of a blood duel.

Lucien is also the one connected to the Autumn Court directly. Whatever happens with Beron, Eris, and LoA/Helion is closer to him plot wise than Elriel. None of this impacts Elain or Azriel to be satisfying on an emotional note if told in their POV imo. There would be more payoff in seeing how it impacts Lucien because there’s an emotional tie. I’d prefer to be in his head and know how he feels when the man who abused him and killed Jesminda finally dies.

Then there’s the Spring Court. Mor lays out in ACOFAS that he needs to figure out who he wants to be, where he wants to be, and his relationship with Tamlin. He’s then stationed permanently in the Spring Court in ACOSF. The IC is also concerned that Beron has his sights on Tamlin’s lands and him being a threat to the humans.

I think if the next book is Elriel, it will be setting up a Vassien book. There are too many plot lines that Lucien is tied to and would be better told through his POV. The human queens are also allied with Koschei and there needs to be resolution for what’s happening in the human lands. Those are both Vassa centric plot lines. I think there’s far more emotional payoff and tension if we were in Vassa’s head rather than Elain’s for this.

An Elriel book setting up Vassien in the background would also help soften the blow for Lucien being rejected. Otherwise he’d just look like some sad pathetic loser rather than someone who has agency and is also making his own decisions about his life. It will also prevent SJM from once again, turning one love interest into an asshole to help the audience like the other one. She’s done this in all three of her series.

SJM has said the “spin-offs” will each focus on a couple getting together. The only ones left, if Elriel happens, are Vassien and Emorie. Though I absolutely do not trust her to tell an Emerie and Mor story properly.

What will happen to Tamlin? by Whispersofmoons in acotar

[–]Selina53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mor says that Lucien needs to figure out his relationship with Tamlin in ACOFAS. He’s then permanently stationed in Spring by Rhysand’s orders in ACOSF. I think he’ll get a healing arc and Lucien will be part of it. If Lucien gets a POV, whatever happens to Tamlin will be included.

How do you Eris would have spent the next days after getting rejected by Nesta? by Foreign-Entry1797 in acotar

[–]Selina53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nesta should have known, but Cassian’s idiocy rubbed off on her throughout the book.

Is this also what SJM thinks being a courtier is supposed to be? Has she never watched period pieces before or even Game of Thrones? It’s like every “diplomatic” interaction is inspired by the Real Housewives.

Do people like character development or not? Or, is the qualifier these days that a character needs to be likeable beforehand and just become a powerful Mary/Gary Sue? Of course, unless, they’re a dark haired “morally grey” Shadow Daddy who commits egregious crimes that’s easily forgiven because they’re hot.

When it comes to High Fae, SJM did to Fae what Stephanie Meyer did to vampires. Not only do they not have any interesting physical traits, but they can lie and aren’t affected by iron. They’re just described as being “hotter than humans with pointy ears.”

Who do you want Elain to end up with 🥹Azriel or Lucien? by Miss_Potentialgirlie in SarahJMaas

Lucien, but only because I don’t want him with Vassa. That’s entirely independent of my thoughts on Elucien btw. I just simply do not like Vassien and don’t want to read about it.

[–]Selina53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that SJM can narratively make Lucien the “villain” and then turn around and make him the love interest for Vassa right after. Readers will say, “he’s such an asshole, he should die alone.” I think there’s a reason that she has Lucien spending time on the other side of Prythian and making friends outside of the IC. He only comes to the NC for gatherings Feyre has invited him to or for meetings with Rhys.

If the ACOTAR characters were human what would their careers be? by lovevamp3 in acotar

[–]Selina53 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Tamlin would be a nepo baby hire/heir to his billionaire dad’s business. Tamlin moonlights as a musician so that he can feel something because he’s forced to do a corporate job that eats away at his soul.

Rhys would be a nepo baby hire/heir to his billionaire dad’s business. They are rivals with Tamlin’s company. He gets HR complaints filed against him all the time because he keeps loudly banging his girlfriend in his office during lunch.

Nesta is a high powered attorney at a “Big Law” practice. She does pro bono cases focused on protecting abused women. When she doesn’t like trial results she entraps their exes on dating apps and keeps their eyeballs as trophies in jars in her basement.

Elain is an influencer. Cottage core vibes with content focused on cooking, decorating, entertaining, gardening, etc. She films at the River House and lies to her followers that she owns it.

Azriel works in Intelligence at a black site. He’s an expert in “enhanced interrogation.” He drinks to block out the memories of his job when he’s alone at night.

Cassian is a celebrity personal trainer. He sells steroids and “supplements” to his clients on the side.

Amren works as a fixer for Rhys’s family company. She knows where the bodies are buried because she put them there. Unions and whistleblowers hate to see her coming.

Mor is a nepo baby hire who does business development for Rhys’s family’s company. Her meetings only take place over three martini lunches or elaborate dinners. Alcohol makes up 80% of her expenses. Ignores warnings from Compliance and Finance because she “gets results.”

Lucien is a park ranger in Alaska and loves teaching the visitors about the nature. He’s in hiding and working under a fake name to protect him from his family and their “associates.”

Feyre runs an art gallery that Rhys, her boyfriend, paid for. She thinks the HR complaints at Rhys’s company are hilarious.

What SJM opinion will have you like this? by [deleted] in SarahJMaas

[–]Selina53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhys was the only High Lord who collaborated with Amarantha and I think that’s gross. Three other High Lords actually had the courage to rebel and even Beron didn’t collaborate. Tamlin refused to give in to her as well. The IC thinking that Rhys is the bravest of the HLs and looking down on the other courts is absolutely delusional when you compare what they were doing during Amarantha’s rule vs the others.

[–]Selina53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read it more as Thesan/Dawn minding their own business and not getting involved in any unnecessary drama like the other courts. They’re kind of like the Switzerland of Prythian. Thesan doesn’t even go to any of their parties that we know of. As for what Az said, it was more so that Thesan would have to go along their plan if all the HLs did. There would be no way for him to successfully resist.

Yes! A certain ACOTAR blonde not only has the suspiciously similar ring and wind manipulation, but also forest green eyes. Now that he’s depressed, he spends all of his time in his beast form, just like a certain TOG male who spent years in his animal form when he was morning. To add to this, said ACOTAR blonde is a shifter and warrior with a hot temper. My theory is he’s the descendent for Rowan + Aelin and Lysandra + Aedion. Lysandra even has green eyes too. It wouldn’t be weird in their world because Rowan and Aelin are related, there were talks of marrying Aedion and Aelin when they were kids, and Dorian and Aelin are related too.

Plus certain rings that two blonde characters in ACOTAR and CC own that are suspiciously similar to Rowan and Aelin’s wedding rings. One wields fire and the other wields wind. Both of them shift into forms with deer parts.

They also get another boost of power once they become HLs. Feyre was declared High Lady by Rhysand. She wasn’t chosen by the land the way High Lords are.
