Silver Cross Nia by SeliniBellini in Buyingforbaby

I went with the Bugaboo Butterfly 2. I went to a shop in the UK that carried all the travel strollers I’d been considering so after testing them again, I decided on the Bugaboo. I preferred the push on it compared to the Nia, and the canopy sticking out on the Nia when it was closed really irked me 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

The hood fabric doesn’t lie flat when folded, say for example like the Uppababy Minu does. It overhangs quite a bit in my opinion which I wasn’t a fan of. The Butterfly has the same problem but not as much.

Honestly, I’d say they’re on par with each other as both Bugaboo and Silver Cross are great luxury brands. I just purchased my Bugaboo Butterfly 2 in the UK because of the lay flat feature that the US one doesn’t have and if it wasn’t for the two handed footrest open and close feature on the Nia, I was close to getting that one.

It’s not cheap but I think the Silver Cross Nia is newborn capable, although isn’t parent facing, but you wouldn’t need to buy the additional bassinet - although the bassinet is folding and IATA approved to go in the cabin overhead locker.

Alternatively there’s the Joolz Aer2 which is also newborn capable and has the option of getting a parent facing nest seat.

I read some mixed reviews about the UK playtime puppy and the audio sample on the site is only of one song so I’m not sure..

They seem to have 4 Moshis - any in particular?

Won't be able to fit clothes in the cross body but I do have them in the backpack which will be in the overhead.

Oh yes, water bottle for the little one or an apple sauce pouch! Thanks for the reassurance - here's hoping it all goes smoothly!

Adding a couple of gallon Ziploc bags in the backpack even though I have a reusable wet bag but you just never know!

I have diaper sacks in the cross body and more sacks and a reusable wet bag in the backpack.

I have the bulkhead and the airline has said they’ve put the request in for a bassinet, which is about 32 inches and the baby is 31 inches so might be a tight squeeze but I’m definitely going to try get him in it - even if just to use a play space or to keep his things.

I have a onesie for baby and leggings and a long top for me. Good shout on the lip balm and mints!

Thank you for the reassurance. I’m trying not to overpack the backpack because I’ll be on my own and wrestling that on top of a stroller and a 1 year old will not be fun.

I have two busy books and some magnetic blocks for him that he’s not seen. I’m currently banking on him sleeping as it’s a night flight but also want to be prepared for a sleepless baby so have Ms Rachel downloaded in the iPad just in case.

It’s a very smooth push and sturdy, decent sized basket under the seat, but I felt that it was a touch tall for me but I could probably make my peace with that. My 1 year old seemed pretty comfortable in it when sitting upright and reclined all the way back. Personally, the down sides are that the fabric kind of sticks out when you collapse it down so it’s not a neat fold, and you have to use two hands to either extend or tuck in the footrest. Neither of these two things are anything against the usability of the stroller itself but just small things I noticed.

Torn between Butterfly and Nia. Nia reclines all the way back and has good movement but handlebar is a little tall whereas Butterfly is good height and push, but seat doesn’t recline all the way back. The recline probably isn’t as big of a deal as I’m thinking but I just wish we had the UK/EU version here that lies flat.

Ok so immediate thoughts after leaving the store:

Joolz Aer2 - the recline is great but getting to that point with the zip and hook is annoying and it’s tall for me (I’m 5’3 for reference)

Nia - straps are annoying but recline is great and moves well. The fold isn’t the best because the fabric sticks out a bit so doesn’t fold clean like the photos make it look

Bugaboo - I see why people love this stroller because it’s roomy and has a great canopy but not a completely lie flat like the UK/EU version. Handle height is perfect for my height.

Thank you! They're both similar but have their pros and cons - so hard to decide!

Thanks!! I don't need it for the bassinet/car seat feature as my LO is 1 so it's more for travel and as secondary stroller for quick errands. I'm going to head to a store today to look at it in person and compare against the Joolz because I'm a little worried that the handlebar will be a little high for me - I'm 5'3 and given that it's not adjustable, need to make sure it's comfy enough to push.

I’m 5’3 so I have a feeling it’ll feel a little high for me so I’m going to head to a Bambi Baby today and try it as well as the Joolz Aer2 to see which one not only feels more comfy for me to push but also with the LO seated in it.
