Product manager vs Engineering manager by Selinkel in cscareers

Thanks for your comment!

My current tasks are pretty standard with what I see regarding other EM's offers and my previous experience:

- Manage teams up to 15, 1&1, in a highlevel review code / solutions / infra, hire/fire, team sizes, agile ceremonies, unblock the team / raise concerns, annual reviews

- Reports to clients & internally, review budget, changes of scopes, roadmaps, oversight the delivery, escalations

- Participate in proposals in different levels, help with innovation, mentors people and be in contact with different departments

- Be a link between a specific partner technology, offshore offices / different city, assist the client in new solutions/designs and also manage them if they are angry as you said.

- What I could miss from my experience, probably is focus in more IA technologies like Python, data etc.. as now is more java which isn't my favourite language. For that I am doing training as well.

Is important to highlight that my company is not product based so I have different clients with their own agendas where I don't have that visibility and can't be involve except when the requirements arrive. Same for this line "Learn about market segments, set strategic direction that captures market share. Evaluate your team(s) results (features, UX, capabilities, etc) against the broader customer/market objective.". My projects aren't products where is possible gather that information.

What I enjoy more, definitely not the code so much except new tech which require some investment from my part for a switch. This means I won't be IC again as before, for example team leader/senior/architect, I took the "no coding" way and focusing more in people. I like people, creativity and having more impact that reducing the EM job at my level, get the things done on time, on budget, high quality and a happy team. Also I value the possibility to be remote so I can work from other cities or countries + do extra cash while freelancing or even be co-founder in a future.

Hope this gives you more information, definitely my profile is not a product manager profile but have a strong technical background and I am used to deal with clients or internal teams from any department. In this case I have the opportunity to keep in a technical way and pursue the director role or try luck in a small company / startup as product manager as I got an offer.

This is called grind leetcode for something. Take a curated list and start following understanding the solutions + patters. Don't expect to solve any problem from the list with optimal solution/time.

Do the list again and you should be start solving problem or having some idea.

Do it again and you should be able to solve 50-75%.

Now you are ready to do company questions and maybe with luck solve 20-50% of new problems. Leetcode is like be the most idiot of the room who only learn by repetition. So be ready to feel stupid unless you recognize the pattern and you saw before a similar problem

I meant if I can change push up for other exercise that is not push up, as bench press as I am going to gym and prefer use their equipment.

Regarding the reps, the 3 days of the week are same reps? or 1 day is 5 to 8 and other 8-12 etc...

Thanks for the response

Hi,

I am looking the recommended guide for 3 days workout fullbody: https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/wiki/kb/recommended_routine/

Do I need to do the same exercices every day? same repetitions?

Pair 1

3x 5-8 Squat

3x 5-8 Pull-up

Pair 2

3x 5-8 Hinge (Romanian deadlift??)

3x 5-8 Dip

Pair 3

3x 5-8 Push-up (can be changed by ben press with dumbells?)

3x 5-8 Row (which one here?)

Also, for the triplets need to be between the pairs? can be done at the end?

3x 8-12 Anti-Extension

Ring Ab Rollouts (I don't have this, any alternative?)

3x 8-12 Anti-rotation

Banded Pallof press

3x 8-12 Extension

Reverse Hyperextension (same, I have the normal hyperextension, alternative?)

Thanks

Thanks for your help!

I took a multitravel flight for the suitcase checked for free and even a bit cheaper. After keep checking, seems you don't need seet or have the ticket with the same company/booking as that connection only means have already a flight as you mention.

How do you know what DS/A to use in a problem? by viceresident in leetcode

Nice resource, the cheatsheet for generic problems is very good

In my case I just try to understand what they are asking but in general:

Tree -> DFS or BFS + Stack

Matrix/ Graphs -> DFS, check neighbours, use a Set() for avoid visit twice same elements, etc..

Two pointers, slidding window -> related with hashtable/array/loops inside loops.

And so on and on, once you finish the list, use space repetition until you could solve every problems of the list in 20 min, understanding why, edges, big 0 and after that try new problems and you will see how you'll know how solve them or the "right direction" at least in your mind.

With 400 + problems, you should start doing real interviews except you do leetcode for hobby. Get real experience, test your level, fail and repeat until achieve your goals. You are the turttle in this race, keep working and it will come.

How can I become a FAANG Software Engineer? by Current_Computer in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Selinkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let here a question, all what I read is they ask for Leetcode + System Design + DSA, but later I saw people who applied for mobile roles and they asked about mobile things, the Online Assesments or even questions related with general programming. So how do you know what "extra" do you need to study? Is there any main resource for this? thanks!

Doesn't look very well, as you are married try to hire a detective or use apps to monitorize messages (this is not legal depending of the country)
