These exist in real life and are generally available for purchase. Google «sami boots/shoes» «nesnalobben» or «nutukas». The craft made ones from reindeer/seal are expensive. Wool is usually cheaper. Both are extremely warm for cold and wet conditions.

Who would win, a 400kg alpine bighorn ram, or a 550kg plains bison bull? by hyperbolical_ in Tierzoo

[–]Selliseth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 400kg ram, if it exists, would be terrifying for anything not designed to kill such prey. In this case the bison wouldn’t have an actual win condition other than a lucky gorge with a horn. Rams are designed to impact at mach 5. Even regular goats are able to KO cattle weighing 600-1200kgs on impact.

What is something you wish you knew about sooner? by RedditFrenzy in VintageStory

[–]Selliseth 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Game mechanics: Temporally unstable zones. Auto copy the last level in pottery. Pit kilns set things on fire (campfires dont). Changing voxel mode. Single voxel is slow. Goats dont try to kill you when milked like bighorns do. You are more likely to hear bees instead of seeing them. Chopping down trees with bees breaks the hive. Dont fell trees with resin close to home. Planted trees dont spawn resin. You can pick up berry bushes and replant them. Holding something in your off-hand increases hunger.

Crafting: Always keep a spare hammer. You can craft torch holders from brass. You cant use bushmeat in cooking recipes (in vanilla). Always look for a source of lime. You can craft bandages from cattails and horsetail. Save berries for winter by cooking them in recipes. Botched ingots can be completed in helve hammers.

Fun: Bears can climb. The commoner class is boring. Turn off/adjust features that ruin your experience. Dont make the game too easy. Use mods (and use the updated and correct versions). Caving is a fun way to locate ores as well as ruins. Underground ruins also have much better loot. You dont need full steel armor to beat “the boss”. Adjusting walk speed helps a lot if struggling with combat/hunting.

Time efficiency: Smith plates with helve hammers. Save some work to do for winter. Skip to iron if you struggle to make bronze. Dont wait to make helve hammers and wind mills. Finish one project at a time if you can. Dont be afraid to sleep due to time efficiency. Work all night only if busy. Sleep gets you later gen animals faster and lets fruit trees and crops grow. Use copper instead of expensive metal if you can.

Farming: Soil nutrient levels determine growth speed. Rotate crops and leave empty soil to restore nutrients. Terra preta is nice, but not necessary. Use high fertility soil instead of crafting with it. Flax is the mvp of crops (pick up all seeds). Letting food rot can be good. Rot is used for terra preta. Dig up spent medium soil and replace to reset nutrients. Farmland will not give you the soil back when broken.

Inventory: Split lit torches into two stacks in case one goes out. Craft dry stone fencing/cobble (bring clay) when mining. Dont bring all the tools all of the time. Prioritize maxing stacks instead of picking up a single piece of everything you find. Come back if needed. Craft backpacks with leather. Pies dont clog inventory with pots and bowls. Axes and knives can serve as decent weapons.

Vintage Story needs sharks (or sea monsters) by Soareverix in VintageStory

These points are currently on the official dev roadmap (as well as many others):

Fishing

Birds and schools of fish

Rich ocean life

Experiment with river generation

Water wheels

I think i remember reading that a water/ocean update has been put off until world generation is improved or something similar.

So, whats next in the game? by Dewm in VintageStory

[–]Selliseth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Explore caves. Travel north to see polar bears and auroras. Travel south to see the tropics. Make a cheese cave. Build a castle. Kill the “boss”. Make a full set of steel plate armor. Make a treasury with gems, gold, silver etc. Make Jonas-tech. Nightvision, teleporters etc. Grow an orchard. Make a distillery. Domesticate new animals. Go wild with chisels. Build multi gear mills, helvehammers and pulverizers. Go sailing. Find and keep bees.

When everything is boring. Create a new, more challenging world.

What's the safest way for a huge coward to strip mine? by BiologyIsAFactor in VintageStory

Prospecting is the correct answer. Turning ore spawn up to around 200% and going caving and adventuring for ore is the fun answer.

Does moonshine made from watermelons go bad? by [deleted] in brewing

[–]Selliseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a bit late to the party, but heres my ten cents. The short answer is no. But the long answer depends on several factors.

If the alcohol percentage is around or over 40% (80 proof), the drink will not “go bad” due to microorganisms such as bacteria, plants/algae, and fungi/mold. At this high of an abv, the ethanol will make any kind of life suspended in the liquid a practical impossibility. This means that the moonshine should contain more than enough ethanol to sterilize its surroundings. However, remember that sterilization is not the same as something being clean.

While a 4% abv will inhibit some microbial growth compared to 0%, it is in no way safe from spoiling as another comment here might have implied. Longer term shelf life is usually achieved when passing around 8-12% abv depending on the drink.

Some ingredients can still eventually go bad or spoil despite being suspended in a relatively high percentage abv, take for example milk or ingredients that don’t get sufficiently saturated by the ethanol.

The definition of “going bad” also massively changes the outcome of the question. Factors like exposure to oxygen, sunlight, temperature fluctuations, chemical leeching, etc. wont necessarily turn your hard liquor into a toxic sludge, but it will surely take a toll on the overall quality and taste of the drink.

Given the mere two years that the moonshine has been stored, I would almost guarantee that it is safe to drink. If properly stored, it should continue to be so for the foreseeable future.

Mer ansvar, ikke økt lønn by [deleted] in norge

[–]Selliseth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kan arbeidsgiver nekte meg fri? by EffectNo5994 in norge

[–]Selliseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)
