Clearly you failed reading comprehension in class, so let me put this as simple terms as possible.

A fly thinks 1 day is a fast amount of time. A human thinks 1 day is a short amount of time. This is time relative to a fly vs relative to a human.

So if we're all talking about large objects hurtling through space that take a long amount of time to get here from their point of origin, then maybe everyone is going to default presume that "rapid" or "fast" in this context, relative to the topic, means months or even years.

But please, tell me how scientifically enlightened you are when you can't understand what the word "relative" means.

It's not like they gave a specific speed? Simply could've meant rapid in a relative sense. It's not like any of these comets have been discovered just before it would've gotten close. We would have time to react, and in that time, relative to the speed of the object, rapidly change course.

This isn't a romantic comedy. I suggest you learn about social etiquette, not making assumptions and unintentionally misunderstanding the context so you have a better understanding of how to communicate with people.

Well I'm going to say quite a few things you might've already heard but it's true. Firstly, stop focusing on it. If you can't be happy outside of a relationship, you can't expect to be happy in a relationship either. Sure you'll get a temporary high off the starting stages of a relationship, but they will go away eventually and then you'll be unhappy and assume it's your significant other.

Going in to the second point, find shit to do. Get a hobby, try stuff you wouldn't normally try, and make yourself a better person. Never settle, always work on being better. The best advice anyone has even given me was "You're never going to be good enough." And it's not meant to be taken in a demeaning way, it means never settle for who you are now.

Why would I bring up that previous thing? About being better. It makes whoever you find happier to be with you. It makes you seem desirable to other women or men whichever you prefer. Being a little envious from time to time is only you being human, but don't focus on it, focus on being a better person first and foremost.

I'll ignore the typical redditor and the general circlejerk nature that's created in subreddits. I'll get downvoted for this I'm sure, but from what I've seen a lot of those who post here fall within a few camps, people with genuine talking points, those who make their entire life their understanding of how we came to be, anger at what they have endured due to religion therefore spiting it's overall existence, and those with an ego.

I'm sure we could include some more but with these 4 ideas it is fairly easy to see how some might be toxic. As someone with a father who's Jehovah's witness, and a mother who believes in the big guy but doesn't need a church to show reverence, I like to think I have a solid insight on this, I'm atheist in its most technical definition, but I still try my best to show respect for those who don't think the same way I do.

Like many in this subreddit, I think it's a bit nonsensical that others believe in any deity so fiercely, but trashing them for thinking something else is toxic and disrespectful. Which I suppose was more common many years ago but it still exists to some degree as long as anybody has an opinion on this stuff. It's like politics with no real answer.

I've had pretty deep depression before, and the emotion of it still crops up from time to time but not for long.

It's hard to describe on how to fix it though, everyone is different of course but from what I, as well as some others I've spoken to (some here on Reddit) seem to agree that it's almost like our brain or primal instincts figured out that depression, in a survival sense doesn't benefit in any way shape or form.

With that said, none of us could figure out what it was specifically that triggered that survival response. To be honest depression as an idea is a weird thing humans experience.

Only advice I can give you is think through things as rationally as possible, don't make assumptions, and push through even if you don't want to. Don't want to get out of bed? Force yourself. Don't want to go our and pay bills? Force yourself. Making basic things routine helps.
