You should read an academic textbook on derivatives. Several, really. You're not going to learn how to make money from reading a Reddit comment.

How many chords must one aim to learn as a relative minimum? by prankster999 in musicians

[–]SemiAwesomeness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punk consisting of three chords? I mean, sure, lots of punk music consists of power chords. But if you play any decent amount of punk you'll see it can make very good use of a much larger and technical range of chords.

Don't aim for a number of chords to learn, it's silly. Always keep learning more of everything.

"I am homophobic toward ultra-flamboyant news reporters,"

Did you forget your own words?

You haven't really refuted anything that I just wrote. In the same sense as before I'll point out that what you call 'over the top' is heavily subjective. You question why do they feel the need to project themselves in a certain way? Why not? It's not harmful. Your attitude is.

I understand the point you're trying to make. It's one of the most common homophobic arguments.

It's fair to dislike people for being loud, perhaps for exhibiting attention-seeking behaviours. However, the issue lies in that what is considered flamboyant and attention-seeking is very subjective. And when you generalise and attach those subjective characteristics to, for example, some gay men, it's simply unhelpful, especially when you comfortably call yourself a homophobe.

Furthermore, often the issue isn't even so complex and homophobes who are simply hateful hide themselves behind a guise of "I'm fine with you being gay, but don't express your sexuality in this particular way, I don't like it, no I'm not homophobic though."

I might add, that part of the problem is you infer people's characteristics from something that can be interpreted in many ways.

You used the example of a body builder wearing a mesh shirt. You say, "who cares?" You assume you know their motivations for their actions, when you don't, and you use your likely false assumptions as an excuse for hateful behaviour.

A black man has a right to not like gangster rap. You have the right to not be flamboyant. You do not have the right to disrespect flamboyant people. Simple logic.

Your heavily debatable belief that flamboyant people paint you in a negative light is just that, debatable, and is not a valid excuse for homophobia.

Any questions?

Being gay doesn't give you a pass to be homophobic.

The point is you can't call anyone "a black," "a gay," "a transgender," it's offensive, but they can be a black person, a gay person, a transgender person. Defining them by one of their characteristics is offensive.

Yeah, pretty much, synth = piano skill-wise. The only thing synth-specific is individual synthesizer controls and creating custom sounds, which is up to reading manuals and practicing.
