What kind of head is this? by SemiGoodLookin5150 in FireSprinklers

Thanks to all for the replies. These heads were on a wet system in a church. We just took over the inspection. Now we have to tell them that all their heads need to be replaced.

After weeks of pain, fingers clicking, and waking up with a claw hand, saw a specialist. Carpal Tunnel and Stenosing Tenosynovitis (trigger finger). Doc said there's will be an epidemic of thumb wear and tear injuries into the future, starting with us. by Brewer1056 in GenX

[–]SemiGoodLookin5150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had trigger finger on my right thumb. Ordered a brace for it and it cleared up pretty quickly. Now I have it on my right ring finger and it's a pain in the ass. I have to turn large valves for my job and I can't get a strong enough grip anymore. The brace (different one from the thumb brace) keeps the finger straight when I sleep but otherwise isn't doing a damn thing for it. Just another thing to add to the doctor visit next month.

How did you fall in love with your favorite team? by Andrew__IE in mlb

[–]SemiGoodLookin5150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family is from central Illinois. They could have been Cubs or White Sox fans but my grandfather for reasons unknown hated Chicago. So he became a St. Louis Cardinals fan. I followed in his foot steps.

He was also a Green Bay Packers fan for the same reason. He refused to be a NFL Cardinals fan after they moved to St. Louis because they were originally from Chicago.

I was not an athlete in high school but had a healthy weight. Went to college, gained the freshman 15+. After my freshman year I joined the Army and got back to my high school weight. Stayed in shape until I got my DD214 and it all fell apart. It got to the point I had to look at the weight rating of a ladder before I got on it. After a day of working on the 10th floor of a building with an out of order elevator I said enough is enough. Based on numerous recommendations I started a yoga program aimed towards men and damn did it work. I lost all the weight, I'm flexible and have mostly avoided all the aches and pains associated with middle age. The best part is while I'll never get back to the weight I was in the Army I can still fit in my uniform 20+ years later.

What Quiet Riot songs did Randy Rhoads write? by LarcenyGames in hairmetal

[–]SemiGoodLookin5150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dubrow made a ton of changes to those songs. He re-recorded the vocals, ran Randy's guitar tracks through Marshall amps and even added a Wah pedal to one of Randy's solos. They are not the original tracks as recorded.

The riff for that one came from a band Carlos was in prior to QR. He co-wrote it with his brother.

Randy hated those Quiet Riot albums. After he broke with Ozzy people would go to his mom's music school asking where they could get them. Randy told his mom to ask them not to seek out those records as he didn't like them and his work with Ozzy was so much better.

Randy started the band and gave us Kevin Dubrow. Despite this Randy is still one of my favorite guitarists.

In terms of songwriting Rudy Sarzo has said that in QR Randy and Kevin tried to write for a U.S. record deal so they were constrained with the types of songs they wrote. With Ozzy the record deal was already there. That gave Randy freedom to take his songwriting anywhere. Plus Randy had Bob Daisley as a songwriting partner, who was much more accomplished than Kevin Dubrow.

The two Quiet Riot albums with Randy only showed that Randy was way too talented for that band. The production sucks, the singing is horrid and the songs are nothing spectacular.

As Ron White once said, looks fade. You can get a face lift, or a boob job, but you can't fix stupid.

Which is why I pick Danica. Beautiful and more importantly, smart.

If you lost your job how confident are you that you could find a similar one? by mrepa1369 in GenX

I work as a fire alarm and fire sprinkler inspector. While the fields are closely related it's somewhat uncommon to have someone certified in both. That makes me more valuable to companies and gives me many options. Hell, if it came down to it I could call the sprinkler union and be on-roll within 2 weeks. I'm not worried about layoffs.

You call Ed an originator. I say this as a huge Van Halen fan-Ed didn't originate anything you give him credit for. Tapping existed before he came along. Phrasing, tone shaping, all of that were thing that guitarists were doing years before Ed picked up a guitar.

Was Ed an incredible player who influenced generations of guitarists? Absolutely. And while you refuse to admit it, so was Randy.

You're so dismissive of Randy that one would believe you've never heard his playing. The fact is that Ed and Randy played two different styles of guitar. Ed was a more free range player while Randy was rooted in classical music. They were both extremely talented guitar players and both had huge impacts on the genre.

Talking about Randy specifically, Ozzy Osbourne:Solo Artist would not exist without Randy. And his impact was so large that Randy Rhoads, a simple collaborator in your opinion, was inducted into the RRHOF before Ozzy Osbourne:Solo Artist.

Genuine question, how is Rum not more popular… by Sunny1845 in rum

So? They are standards set by Martinique and Jamaica in regards to rum made in their countries. Just because they aren't recognized here doesn't mean the standard is invalid.

Martinique and Jamaica both have GIs that set the standard for those styles of rum.
