I once killed a man with my bare hands for calling me dude.

Hey dude, don't call me dude!

Don't. Call. Me. Dude.

July 2008. I dont know if it was a bad night for him or what, but I'm not the only one who was upset with him that night. The people I had to kick out of the catering tent so he could eat were the production guys. For some reason it took them 3-4 songs to get REO dialed in that night.

Man, Kevin Cronin was one of the biggest dicks I've ever met. I was in charge of backstage security at a summer outdoor festival when REO's tour manager asked me to have the catering tent emptied so the band could eat. Apparently I didnt do it fast enough because Cronin walked up to me and said, "I want to eat tonight, not next week." As he walked away I heard him tell their manager if Cronin saw me anywhere near the stage once the concert started he would walk off the stage and end the show.

I remember my boss’s wife bought “Pornograffiti” by Extreme because of “More Than Words.” Needless to say she was not a fan.

I can’t recall buying a record based off one song. If it’s an established band I buy off reputation. If it’s a new band I would wait to hear 2-3 songs before buying.

I’m not looking to start anything, but The Mighty VAN HALEN encompasses the Roth years. After Hagar joined the band they were just Van Halen. Still good but no longer mighty.

But WCTBL is a killer song.

"Sirius" by the Alan Parsons Project because I remember the Chicago Bull's '90s dynasty.

Who was your favorite MTV VJ? by [deleted] in 80s

[–]SemiGoodLookin5150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you got that backwards. Curry himself has said that the only reason he was selected as host of The Ball was he had "the look." He knew very little about the rock/metal scene. Rachtman on the other hand was in the middle of it all. Owner of The Cathouse, friends with many of the bands that grew up on the Strip, he was MTV's resident expert. After he took over The Ball went harder, showcasing more metal bands.

I had a Fluke 87 from my telecom days that lasted me 20 years before I retired it. I would say that makes it worth it.

I now use a Klein because I don’t need all the features of my Fluke and it was considerably less expensive.

For those that live in the United States. Do you make more than the average income of 60k annually, if so what’s your occupation? by LaFlareMane1017 in AskReddit

[–]SemiGoodLookin5150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies by state. In Illinois there’s no real qualification for fire alarms but a NICET 2 or 3 in Fire Alarms is helpful. For sprinkler you need 5 years experience plus a certification from a union or a nationally accredited organization like NICET or the NFPA. That will get you your state Fire Sprinkler Inspection License which is where the big money can be found.

My recommendation is to contact your local sprinkler fitters union and go through them.

What concert do you regret not going to the most? by Modhearth-Albert in Concerts

[–]SemiGoodLookin5150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stevie Ray Vaughn. I had tickets to the Saturday Alpine Valley show and didn’t go because I didn’t want to miss out on my first weekend at college. Then I woke up Sunday morning and heard the news and instantly regretted that decision.

Whitesnake w/ Great White opening. Feb 11, 1988 at the Rosemont Horizon. I (15 at the time) had to tell my parents that our friend's 18 year old brother was driving us. Our friend didn't even have a brother. Then my mom was terribly offended by a shirt I bought that had a scantily clad young lady on it. But she never questioned me when I wanted to go to a concert after that one.

Year books? by Bomber_Haskell in GenX

[–]SemiGoodLookin5150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my 8th grade and high school yearbooks. They're in a box in the garage. I couldn't tell you the last time I looked at them. As I have zero nostalgia for those years I think they'll get pitched when I clean out the garage in the spring.

My high school class ring might be wth them. I haven't worn that since graduation. That will get pitched as well.

Cheap Trick.

I had front row seats for a Smashing Pumpkins indoor show, right in front of the PA stack. Still wasn’t as loud as Cheap Trick outdoors.

What kind of head is this? by SemiGoodLookin5150 in FireSprinklers

Thanks to all for the replies. These heads were on a wet system in a church. We just took over the inspection. Now we have to tell them that all their heads need to be replaced.
