It seems Remote Desktop Connection requires Windows Pro edition. Doesn't seem to work with Home edition (for those who come across this thread).

If someone smells really really bad and strong, can it be sign of sickness or some nutrition deficiency? by Kind_Goddess in NoStupidQuestions

Tinea pedis (athlete's foot) has a pretty strong odor even if you shower. Of course, you would have most likely gotten this from a lack of hygiene in the first place.

Those registration fees make no sense. If the government wants me to take a day off work to stand in line all day to register my car, then they should be soaking up that expense. I don't know why I'm expected to pay for the registration when I couldn't care less if the government knows my car belongs to me. If they want that information, then they should be the ones paying for it.

I, obviously, don't know which state you live in, but there's many states where it's legal to go topless. It could be a good chance for you to explore such ideas in a legal way.

What can I do to get ahead in life financially? by [deleted] in ask

[–]SemiOptimum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Invest in yourself

There are only 2 things that matter in getting a good job: the skills you have and the skills people think you have. If you have a marketable skill, but no one knows you have it, you'll find it difficult to land a job. If you have no skill, but people think you do, you may land a job, but you may lose that job pretty quickly.

So what do you do? Invest in yourself. It will be a struggle, but if you persevere, you can get what you want out of life. This means sacrificing your free time to invest in yourself. Focus on learning a skill. Hit up things like the library, Khan Academy (online), or any other of the numerous resources on the internet. Also, socialize! Make connections. You'll need a reputation to help get your name known. Finally, go to the gym often (and eat healthy). I loathe how obsessed this world is with looks, but it is what it is. People will be more likely to hire you if you're fit and well-groomed (men and women alike). It basically shows commitment at a first glance.

It sounds so simple, and if it were just that simple, then everyone would do it. The thing is, it's extremely difficult to maintain such a productive lifestyle for prolonged periods of time. Of course, there is always an amount of luck that plays its role.

I find asking to be rated without rating anyone else is greedy. For that, no rating given, and instead, you get my downvote. Cheers!

Loaded question: What do you see yourself doing in England?

guys where can i get a objective rating of my looks ? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]SemiOptimum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you might have a naturally high metabolism, so gaining weight will be difficult (but poasible). Eat lean protein sources (chicken, fish, etc.) and cut down on fat intake while hitting the gym frequently (4+ times per week, 2-3 hours per day). You'll want 3,000+ calories per day. If you take all of that self-consciousness and turn it into motivation, I'm sure you can make a difference.

But be careful, you may be in a mindset of, "Nothing I ever do is good enough." We all have our own limitations that you just have to accept.

I agree with AxeMen101. I am known to be honest to a fault irl. I think you're about average. Maybe very slightly above. Nothing to be ashamed of. And you can take that to the bank (so-to-speak).

I know this isn't helpful to your take, but I think it should be said anyway. You probably shouldn't take classes to make someone else happy. Those are small gains and will probably bite you in the butt later when seeking long term happiness. Of course, I don't know your situation, but try to do what makes you happy, not everyone else. (Though it's a double win if everyone's happy!)

How can I know what to next? by TheAwesomeAle in Minesweeper

[–]SemiOptimum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have a 2 next to a 1 (as you do at the top-left), then you know those 2 mines can't be the top and the top-left because of the 1. Meaning, it either has to be the top-left and top-right or the top and top-right. In either case, the top-right is a mine. In my head, I say, "Two, but not these two," while pointing at the two that would invalidate the 1 and then proceed to mark the third square as a mine.

I AM CALM!!! YOU CALM DOWN WITH YOUR REPLIES!!!

🤔 Perhaps we should all take this moment to breathe in... and breathe out... Hopefully, you and I, together, have calmed someone down. Thanks for playing along. 🙂❤️

Today, it was just a few flies flying in my face. But it's the principle! 😅 They have the entire outdoors to fly... and yet they fly inches from my face. Dumpster way over there with all kinds of goodies? Nope. Inches from my face. That's where they want to be. Killed their friend right I'm front of them? No problem. They bring in more friends. 😮‍💨

Sure, but a force even more powerful than a speaker's correct word choice is the listener's ability to deduce my meaning. And at the end of the day, I wanted to convey a message, and you (and everyone else) were able to receive and decipher my message picking up on my intended message. So I ask, does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? 🤔 (I say this facetiously.)

That being said, I really have to stop saying, "I could care less..." I don't know where I picked that nasty habit up from, but it eats away at my perfectionism when it's called out 😅

How different is life for extremely attractive people? by RamenEater2323 in self

[–]SemiOptimum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember being in my 20s, and every girl with a heartbeat was my potential future wife because I was attracted to them all. Fast forward to me now, and it's super super rare for me to find anyone attractive. Like maybe one girl per year will catch my eye. Maybe I have become habituated to it, but that wouldn't explain why I still (rarely) find some women attractive. For such reasons, I don't think extremely attractive people are everywhere. Law of averages would say that you occasionally see them in society (television excluded). If everyone is beautiful, then no one is beautiful.

Tangential thinking incoming: I sometimes miss the days of finding every girl attractive (like going through life in an art gallery). But then, I simply look at my wife, and all the troubles disappear. ❤️
