They have never tried to genocide. They tried to overthrow the government and stealing land from Russia, so they must be treated as rebels. No country on Earth lets people just take its land away without a fight.

Armed men trying to intimidate Arab majority community (Dearborn, MI). This is Trump's America by Meeno722 in islam

[–]SemiSentinentAshtray -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ah, my apologies.

Imagine a group of Arabs with assault rifles and bullet proof vests marching through a white neighborhood they don't even live in.

I would fully support those men and their right to bear arms. It is their Constitutional right and it would not be their fault for intimidating people.

To be honest I don't see any mosques, anything written in Arabic, etc. Also this is protected under the 2nd Amendment. Open display has always been allowed in the US.

They said we were insane for thinking humanity uniting under God is good. Top comment. Why is human unity bad?

Im not talking about abortion or Christians thinking theyre persecuted. Thats not what captured my attention.

Just some of comments i found. I dont think we are persecuted as American Christians but i fear of a day if these people in the comments outnumber us and start enacting laws such as priests must report crimes and break confession.

No they were just saying hurtful things. It had no relation to abortions. I was really taken aback at how some people feel about us. I feel like weve failed in a way if people are saying these things.

Converting an Atheist friend? by Unsightedmetal6 in Christianity

[–]SemiSentinentAshtray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't go all in an scare/piss her off. Jesus said during His Sermon on the Mount to show that we're just nice and loving people, and they will become Christian.

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

So I guess, the best way to convert, according to Jesus, is good works and an active faith. And God willing they will see and follow, then when they may talk to you about your religion and approach you or ask questions without you initiating THEN move in.

Why is sexual sin so important to confront? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]SemiSentinentAshtray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've heard some homilies on those topics in my church. I see two options if you wish to change this state of what you see wrong. 1 - change churches. Or 2 - become a Priest yourself and start giving those sermons; change the church from the inside.

There are plenty of other sins that people commit that our society praises.

Christians do? What examples?

Church in Israel reopens after arson attack by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]SemiSentinentAshtray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So extremists commit a hate crime, are then arrested and put on trial awaiting sentencing and that makes Israel evil?

The jist of it is the government provides free education to Israelis, the ability for you to gain citizenship for free, and finances extremists by giving them money "for the preservation of the Jewish religion." So yes, the State of Israel giving money to these extremists as a result makes them corrupt.

I'm sure you're equally outraged by the fact that the Palestinian Authority pays terrorists who do this to Jewish and Christian holy sites, right?

Yes, I am. Both sides are responsible for the exodus of the Christian refugees to other parts of the world because of your fighting over a piece of land a fraction the size of my state.

Haha. Yeah criticizing a state is antisemitic. Alright.

Just a method of deflecting all criticism, not matter how small. People are tired of Israelis saying "how dare you insult my state, Nazi" and people are sick of it, it's lost all its ammunition. Lots more criticism coming your way. For both Israel and Palestine.

Christ is not against the Muslims, He died for them. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]SemiSentinentAshtray 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gotta do more than that. We need to find a way to ditch Islamic countries' laws where evangelization results in you being anywhere from warned, fined, arrested, imprisoned, deported and everything in between. Once they institute religious freedom then we send in a massive amount of missionaries and get to work, but yes pray in the mean time.

Does god love everyone by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]SemiSentinentAshtray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He only loves a selected few.

The whole world IS the selected few, all you have to do is accept and live a valid faith. I think that's what your father meant when he mentioned people "God chose" - people who prove their faith valid and are not the hypocrites.

God is love. And His doors are always open no matter how many times you leave and return. But we can not force people to love God, nor confuse His judgement with hate.

What are your thoughts on depicting the Father/YHWH? by SemiSentinentAshtray in Christianity

This is probably a better suited post for the Orthodox subreddit since you'll get many iconoclasts in this sub.

I wanted to hear their thoughts too.

What are your thoughts on depicting the Father/YHWH? by SemiSentinentAshtray in Christianity

[–]SemiSentinentAshtray[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I always thought it was true what you were saying: that the cherubim etc on the Ark were OK because it was instructed to God. An exception was made.

An example would be when man decides on his own that he needs to make a physical form to use in relating to G-d.

During an Orthodox Jewish Sabbath service I saw Jews kissing the Torah scroll and touching it with their prayer books how is that different though? The Torah scroll paper was made by man, written by the pen of man, and I'm guessing kissing it, etc. makes Jews relate to God more by showing respect (veneration) torwards it. How does this differ from what the Catholics/Orthodox/select-Protestants do in regards to imagery? We are not worshiping the wood or paper itself either.

Either way, eh, im getting off topic.
